This palace is on one of the edges of Liberdade Square!
It is open for free tours, each with a guide to. Show you around and give you the history.

They have the tours in Portuguese, Spanish and English.

It has been restored beautifully, and the gardens are nice too.

Don't miss this beautiful palace, ex-residence of former state governors, of which several became Republic Presidents, such as the popular Juscelino K.

It was our first day in Brazil, and we visited the palace because we had some time to kill and it was near to our hotel. We were were very glad we did because we had an exceptionally wonderful experience. Our guide, Julio, gave us a great tour of the palace itself and an exceptionally interesting introduction to the history and culture of Belo Horizonte and Brazil in general. It was wonderful to have such an intelligent and observant guide. It was one of those magic moments of travel that we will always remember.

This palace was recently renovated and everything looks great. The furniture and the paintings are awesome. The stairs who were made in Germany are impressive. The Garden worths a visit too, as it is perfect for relaxing in a sunny day. If you are interested in History, Politics or Arts you should visit this palace.

One of the few places in Belo where a friendly english speaking guide, Giselle, showed me around. Many of the other attractions in Belo only have Portuguese write-ups in the rooms making it difficult for non-Portuguese speaking people to get the full benefit of the museums. The Palacio has impressive architecture with a good explanation of the history of Minas Gerais. I liked the detail in the floors, walls, doors and ceilings. Definitely worth a visit. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and was surprised to have free entrance.
