Let me repeat: gastronomic excellence.
During our short stay on Ihla Grande by Praia Vermelha, the Casa do Chef Bistro by Eduardo de Castro was our one and only restaurant. Over the course of three nights, Eduardo prepared delectable fish, seafood, and rice dishes that presented the very best of the day's catch from the local fisherman who come to shore every day just a few steps from the Casa.
We found that the Casa provides a truly exquisite 'haute cuisine' experience without a trace of pretentiousness. Eduardo prepares his dishes with an incredible passion and respect, while drawing on Portuguese, French, and Brazilian culinary influences. Love and technique are abundantly evident in everything he serves.
I could go on about his sardines, barracuda, ceviche, and famous 'riz de la mer' – but I will keep this short. This is an absolute MUST experience on Ihla Grande, and if I dare say so, in all of Brazil.
Every night Eduardo told us that it was a pleasure for him to cook for us. Eduardo, if you are reading this, please know how much of a pleasure it was for US to be in your company, to eat your food, and to sit at your table.
We'll be back, without question.
