Built in 1930, the hotel was reopened in 2011 after a 45 year hiatus. It's like the golden age of glamour in the lobby. Checked in promptly despite turning up 2 hours before the 3pm check in, which was very much appreciated. We were a party of 4, 2 rooms. Both rooms identical….spacious, clean, quality linens, VERY comfy bed, effective A/C unit (saving grace since it was 34C outside being summertime). Fast WiFi though a little annoying to have to login every few hours (I thought hotels had abolished this way of logging in a decade ago). Shower had excellent pressure (there's a clasp to alter the angle of the showerhead). We came by car and there's free parking with valet service which is very helpful and also very cheerful valet man who helped us with our bags too. Nice touch! Breakfast was simple and not anything to write home about though that is typical in Brazil. We're not really breakfast folk but enjoyed the coffee as a pick-me-up with a slice of toast and jam. I'd recommend to couples, folk on business and families alike, whether for an overnight stay or longer - has everything you would want and need. The Hotel is situated in the heart of Petropolis' historic centre so can walk everywhere within the historic town.
