Ive stayed in many hostels this year and this wasntva favourite! Generally I found the place a little annoying. The guys toilets only down stairs. Breakfast in the middle of the foyer/reception area and confusion regarding my booking and having to be moved in the middle of the night! But at the end of the day it was ok for me. The staff are friendly and try there best, I was already familiar with the area ended up with a room to myself. Not the worst but there are better...

We did a reservation and had already payed half the value. When we arrive we had to pay the other half and they did not let us do early check in or even see the room. We let our luggage there and went for the beach, we came back at night and what a surprise that the guy did not know where was our room, a girl that did not worked there helped us to find it and it was impossible to stay at room number 1: too small, a terrible smell, it all dirty, impossible to stay in. We left the place and found a great place for only 100 reais more. I do not recommend this place to anyone, in any occasion.

I heard that the staff is not permanent, it´s travelers who work there for some days or weeks to get free accommodation. Maybe that explains why it´s so unorganized, even though they are friendly and always try their best. They needed one hour to finally find a free bed for me and I did reserve a couple of days earlier. Breakfast never started in time, so if you have an early appointment, you will have to get a coffee outside. Rooms are very stuffy and bathrooms dirty. Lockers in the rooms are broken. Definitely not recommendable.

I found a bed bug crawling on my bed and then later another on me, well, I think that's enough said. The staff are nice and it's close to the beach but that doesn't make up for the level of cleanliness and the fact that you can find other nicer hostels for the same price that are clean, in a good location and with good staff. The rooms are old and everything looks like it's way old.

It was the hottest Rio had been in years whilst we were there and the hostel had trouble getting hold of extra fans for the rooms... grab a top bunk where you can, much cooler at night than the bottom bunks. Breakfast didn't amount to much, but located just off the main strip so many places to eat. Copacabana beach 5 minutes away, Ipanema just 10. Hostel offers good value tours aound the major sights - pefect if you've only got a few days to cram everything in!

This hostel is a nightmare and I would advise anyone to stay away from it - any place that cant deal with reservations should be closed as far as I am concerned, its the most basic part of hostel business. Owner clearly only cares about money and not for the health & safety of her guests. Friendly advice, get out while you can!!

Rooms are basic, but what y ou expect from a hostel. no aircon but 3 fans in the room did the job. Bit noisy at 1pm from other backpackers one night but overall fairly quiet. Staff are very friendly and quite helpful./ I'd stay again... its just an average backapckers hostel. Bathroom was clean.

We booked a private room with ensuite but was not up to the standard of what we expected and paid for! Room needed a lot of work. Bathroom very small and smelly. Rooms are located above the communal courtyard so were very noisy. However, the staff are very friendly and speak english. Also offers free internet. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hostel. Suggest to stay in Ipanema area instead.
