Visited for a leisure trip with my son. Could not have asked for a better experience. Hotel reception staff and concierge staff were extremely helpful and willing to go above and beyond. Concierge staff supported every transport request I had, and willing to offer suggestions and recommendations throughout the stay - always with a smile. Rooms and bar/dining options also great! Highly recommended!

This is a very modern hotel in the up market Barra area about 30-40 minutes from the famous Rio beaches.
As a diamond member I was given an upgrade and was able to check in right away at 10.am which was great after long tiring flights.
Large room with good facilities and Wi-fi
Good concierge who arranged reasonable transportation from airport and to the cruise port.
Had a noise problem one night from a very loud pool party but it was toned done after I complained.
Staff pleasant and helpful
A few minutes walk from a large shopping centre with many restaurants and a food court.
Overall a very good choice for a quiet and well priced hotel. Might not suit those wanting to be near the major beaches but there are quieter ones nearby.

The hotel was chosen by our organization’s Brazilian member to host our annual meeting. The site was disappointing to our international group, as it is far from the sights, sounds, beaches and Carioca feeling of being in Rio. Situated about 20 minutes inland from the beach, we felt as though we were in a suburb of any American city.
The hotel itself is very modern, with well designed public areas and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was included in our package and was tasty, especially the bakery products. Eggs made to order and expresso coffees were served by helpful and friendly staff. The beds were comfortable and the rooms well designed with good lighting. The cleaning staff kept the rooms freshly clean
Now for the negatives. The location meant that driving to must see highlights of Rio such as Corcovado or Sugarloaf took two hours! The food served buffet style at our meetings was of very poor quality. The meat and chicken were over cooked and very dry. Salads were mediocre with oil and balsamic vinegar as the only dressing offered.
We were told that the bar offered half price drinks in the late afternoon. Not true! The caipirinhas were very good but cost was 30$R with 10% added for service.
Finally, although the hotel was generally clean, one could not help but notice that room delivery trays with leftovers were left in the hallway for 2 full days (see photo). No five star hotel should ever allow this to happen.
Overall, I’d definitely not choose to stay here to visit Rio.

If you are in town for a business trip and looking for a hotel away from tourist area, this is the place. Great facilities, 4 minute walk from shopping centre with good options for meals. Breakfast buffet selection was also great.

The moment you walk into the lobby, you can not help but be awed by the highest ceiling yet adorned by polycarbonate plates skewered by stainless steel tubes by the sculptor Iole de Freitas. Going around, you notice several marble carvings in different sizes by Bruno Giorgi. Then there is the breathtaking video wall by Daisy Xavier showing a swimmer recorded by two cameras crossing a sequence of folds in a borderless pool, the ultimate display of infinity. The garden adds a natural accent. Several sofas and lounge chairs exude a relaxing atmosphere. There is a business center which looks more like a library with several desktop computers at your disposal. Outdoor swimming pool and gym in the 9th floor. Upon, check-in, one of the most wholesome and friendliest encounters in the person of Wedson Bittencourt. As you journey to your room, the hallway lights are automatically triggered by foot pressure. The room is nothing less remarkable, with predominant wood and glass with occasional marble. There is a solitary framed art, a stunning acrylic on paper by Alejandro Lloret of a mangrove river surrounded by greenery. Bathroom amenities are by L’Occitane. Cable TV carries CNN, Bloomberg, BBC and thankfully Sony Canal which shows The Voice and American Idol. Complimentary wi-fi is good for 30 days (!) so there is no need for repetitive log-ins. Breakfast leans towards healthy, with an assortment of bread, fruit, and greens. You won’t see more beautiful people during breakfast than here. Never will you see a more accommodating and helpful concierge. Joao Souza will arrange tours, suggest incredible dining, shopping (including where to buy Brazilian percussion) and authentic Brazilian music headliners at the Blue Note and Bottles’ alley (Beco dos Garrafos). As to location, you are far from the “maddening crowd” and just across the street is the Metropolitan mall with a money changer, cinema, Los Americanas and food court. The price to pay for isolation, albeit a small one, is the relative distance to the metro station. With all of these, you can never go wrong with Hilton Barra. Surpreendente.
