having previously lived in Battembang i was aware of the Lux,,,so when i returned for a visit i booked here. Good collection at the bus station avoided any scammers trying to take you elsewhere. Great comfortable rooms,,bright and airy. First hot shower in over a month !!!! always good. and even the tv channels had been sorted into groups by language,,,Great.
Staff are friendly and great location.

Room Tip: no lift,,but only 3 floors high !!!

We ended up staying an extra day in Battambang between Kampot and Siem Riep because we were so comfortable and relaxed in this nice town. The room was large and clean and had some amenities we didn't find elsewhere in Cambodia for the same price. The window was left open by the cleaning staff one day which resulted in the room being filled with little bugs, but over the course of our stay a gecko moved into the room and helped clean them up.
There are some of the common inconsistencies found in Cambodia - the owner was busy installing beautiful new expensive wooden bed frames but the bathroom doors are thin and plastic and don't properly close. Still, he worked very hard to improve our stay and seems intent on improving the hotel as much as possible. He was around enough to whip the other workers into shape as they didn't seem to necessarily share his enthusiasm for great service. Either way, they were well trained to offer up fresh fruit every time we walked in the door.
The hotel also recommended a great tuk tuk driver who took us to the outlying sights one day.

Room Tip: We were up on the top floor and it is a long walk up the staircase if you're not keen on climbing.

Rooms are good. But unfortunately falls down in service. almost none of the staff speak English, which is fine (I don't speak cambodian), but then one shouldn't be marketing oneself as a tourist English speaking hotel. Wifi didn't work one day. Air con turned off during the day (Altho they switched back on when we asked), no communal drinking water in reception (Altho they provide small bottles, but think of the landfill). Also no safety deposit in room so we left our excess money and passports at reception, then for a whole 24hrs couldn't access as the boss had locked in his gone to siem reap with the key!! Grr a tad annoying when we ran out of money. Altho the staff member lent us $20. Also when we asked for a taxi to phnom peng they quoted us $90 so we went to the stand ourselves and got quoted $60. Commission perhaps...? Also everyone we asked reception a question they inevitably had to call someone as didn't understand what we were saying. Unfortunately at $20 and $25 headline rates that all does not stack up! Reasonably nice place so could definitely improve this easily with some better service.

I travelled to Battambang with sixteen other volunteers to spend one night. We were met by the hotel Tuk Tuks, which were free. The staff were friendly, and on arrival we were offered fresh bananas, mangos and pineapples. The rooms were clean and great value for money. A few of us were upgraded to the King Size rooms, that were very nice. We had fan rooms, and they were cool enough, didn't need air conditioning. The hotel arranged a trip to the Bamboo train and the Killing Caves, Tuk Tuks included. Cost about $15 to have the tuk tuks for the day, and they gave us more fruit to take with us. Mr Lizy - one of the drivers, gave us a tour of the Killing Caves and he was great! - Slight hiccup with the hotel arranging bus tickets, so maybe organise yourself?

Stayed 3 nights, room 405 (no elevator so good exercise!). Attentive staff, fruit treats and free krama, 2 small waters per day, good laundry service, quiet at night for being so centrally located, near many good restaurants . Almost all rooms face West (afternoon sun but good curtains). One bad policy, if the power goes out during the day they don't run the generator if they only have a couple of occupants - not great if you are there on business, back in your room on a hot day without fan or A/C!! Good wifi with router relay on every floor - wish some better hotels in SE Asia would learn how easy this is to do.

Room Tip: Looked in a few rooms on the 3 upstairs floors. Great variation in size and furnishings so if you don't like a room ask to see another. Front balcony rooms and back end rooms looked smaller than the majority along the halls. We picked 405 because it had nice kingsize bed, two nice rattan chairs, coffee table and wardrobe along w mini-fridge.
