The location was great because it was at the beginning of the Old Street with little tourists. The rooms are really nice furnished. We would recommand the Huangshan tea in the restaurant. WIFI was also best to use in the restaurant area.

The mattress is hard like stone and the walls are thin like paper and you can hear every single word spoken next door. English was not spoken by anyone. WIFI connection in the room was really bad.It is a pity that the restaurant never had any guests. The included chinese breakfast wasn't really our taste. Within 4 days the room was never really clean.

We traveled to Tunxi from Shanghai to explore Yellow Mountain. The hotel is located in the old part of town, which is perfect for walking and eating! We were there during New Year, so there were a lot of fireworks, as expected! The hotel was very nice and updated, with original furniture. That being said, the beds were very hard and short! We have grown to expect this in China, but my husband is 6'4 and it was uncomfortable!

Tunxi Lodge is situated on a quieter end of Old Street, Tunxi. It couldn't be in a better location for shops, restaurants, bars, tea houses, and coffee shops. We really enjoyed wandering the street in the evening, having a nice dinner and drinks, and being able to walk to the hotel afterwards. It is also really close to the Xiu'an River, lovely to walk along in the early morning and see the fishermen.
The hotel is small, approximately 38 rooms, and is connected to a restaurant next door that serves breakfast. There is a choice of Chinese or Western breakfast, we had the Western which included cereal, toast, eggs, and bacon. The receptionists are very friendly but speak limited English. They were extremely helpful in storing our bags when we went to Yellow Mountain. The rooms are spacious and the furniture is traditional to the Ming, Qing dynasties, although bringing the beds into this era might be helpful. The mattresses are rock hard! The bathroom is clean and functional, although the shower floods the floor every time it is turned on, it was a bit of an annoyance.
Overall, I couldn't imagine there is a better location in Tunxi. I would definitely give it a higher rating if not for the bed. For a night, it's worth the stay.

Room tip: If you don't want to carry your bags up three stories, pick a lower floor.

Situated in the Old street it is a quaint little hotel. It is a very chineese traditional hotel. Bathroom was rather compact and cramped the bed was a traditional chineese cot and very hard. Room was clean with old type furniture. There are not lifts but hotel is only two floors. Breakfast was amazing with a cooked breakfast waiting for you next door at the restaurant with good service. There were lots of places to eat in the Old street and lots of opportunities to buy gifts and souvenirs. People were friendly. There is also a private Museum near by. It was a good stay.

After my worst night's sleep while travelling in Anhui Province I can only say staying here has diminished my sense of peace and being well- rested. Karaoke until nearly midnight. Beds so hard I may as well have just slept on the floor. Air-con that functions for 10 seconds and then stops, regardless of the setting. On top of that the wi-fi doesn't work. I am very unsure what was included in the price of staying there at this point other than a roof over my head.

Room tip: Ask for a room away from the Old Street. Maybe that will help..?

Dear Lal M,

Thank you for your review and bringing in our attention to the problems you encountered.

After looking into the matter, it appears that the "Karaoke" noise was from the bar across the road. We will seek help from the management office of the area and follow up this.

For the bed and air-con problems, we have urged the Lodge to change rooms for guests upon request.

For the in-room WiFi, the Lodge has installed new modems to improve the accessibility of the Internet.

Thank you for your patience and choosing to stay at Tunxi Lodge. We hope to serve you again.

Best regards,
May Lee
