I really enjoyed my stay in Tunxi and at the Tunxi Lodge. Miss Chris the manager speaks perfect English and I thought really went out of her way to help me. I told her I wanted to stay one week and she wrote up an itinerary for me wih a daily schedule for visiting Haungshan mountain, the beautiful villages, and Baos Garden. Her information of where to get the public buses the times and costs were spot on perfect. She even arranged for me a driver to get to some out of the way places like the stone gates, and Baos Garden and another village including a discount on a ticket price. Tunxi Lodge is very well located at the west end of Old Street. As soon as you walk down the stairs at the west end from the main road on Old Street, Tunxi Lode reception is not more than 50 meters and on the right side. The room is very old style Chinese. The room had a good shower and plenty of hot water. Also I had a good wifi signal and could make very good skype calls from my IPad. The one thing I didn't like was the bed because it had a foot board which is a bit of a hinderance if you are tall and the mattress was harder than Chinese algebra.
