They care about food here. My server is also the owner. He spoke to me fluently about where each type of fish is caught, how to prepare the fish, and why--they have thought hard about flavour and do what is needed to bring it out. This family has a true love of food, and of serving it to others--such a pleasure and privilege to eat here...the pasta with scampi really tasted like pasta and scampi--not overblown with other flavors that some restaurants use to make the shrimp and pasta into a vessel for something else...This is the real deal. The sea bass they prepared was locally caught, cooked just a tiny bit crisp on the skin, perfectly filleted at the table, and they served both filets on each side...Many restaurants in the US do not serve the lower portion which sits near the guts and has much more fishy flavor...this family really brings the flavor out. And they will expertly filet the fish at your table if you wish...I have eaten here twice---perfect consistency. If you are here try it! Note--this is not a gourmet restaurant in the sense of complex sauces and innovative parings...it is just really great sea food served within the delicious confines of a country that never stopped using local food. The olive oil is made around the corner. The wine comes from a neighboring vineyard. The restaurant is on the wharf and the fish come from the smaller diesel boats that you see in front of you. Olive oil, wine, fresh fish. What more could one ask for?
