We booked this hotel on booking.com . It had gotten a 9 out of 10 and was priced as if was a hostal. When we arrived we were so pleased with the staff, the cleanliness of the room , the comfortable beds and the location. I give this hotel a 10 overall . Hugo Chavez supposedly stayed there and I'm not surprised!

Room Tip: Ask for the room closest to the front desk with the large bathroom. The tub is unusually long and is great for bubblebaths.

Going anywhere by motorized transport in Quito on a Friday is a traffic nightmare. It took over an hour by taxi to go a few miles to the Ofelia bus station from downtown Quito. Ofelia is where you get the bus for Otavalo. We stood in line with hundreds of other people for 1 1/2 hrs. for a bus before deciding to suck it up and get a taxi. Even so, we didn't arrive in Otavalo until 10:30 PM. We had reservations at Hotel Acoma but worried about the room being held, because we couldn't call ahead of time being too cheap to get a cell phone we could use in Ecuador. To our relief, the room was still ours, the desk clerk was friendly, and the room was clean and inviting. I'd give it 5 stars, but the room was small and there was not much storage space.

good service, tastefully decorated hotel a couple blocks from the main handicraft market

Room Tip: try to get a room on the third floor, where you cannot hear the noise from the lobby

We have stayed in several different reasonably priced hotels in Otavalo in the past so tried something new. This was a welcome experience. Full breakfast included in the price. The service was great and always attentive. This place is quiet and restful.

It is only 1 1/2 blocks from the Otavalan Market. There are lots of restaurants nearby. We were working out of the hotel for a week and it provided high speed internet for office work there. We felt secure as there was always people there from the owner's family. It is family owned and there is a family atmosphere.

I highly recommend it.

Hotel Acoma is very well located in Otavalo, and only a couple of minutes walk from most places that you want to be. The Plaza de Poncho is just down the road, as is the Shanondoa Pie Shop, and a plethora of eateries and markets.

Taxi drivers will charge you about $1 or $1.50 from the central bus station, or it is an easy 8 minute stroll.

The staff are very friendly, the breakfast (included) is very good and the rooms are well kept and clean. Keep in mind that in "Western Standards" it is about a 2.5 to 3 star hotel, however for a small town in Ecuador it is pretty darn good.
