“Robust, meaningful statue, a champion of Macedonia”

Philip II of Macedonia Statue

As statues of heroes go, this is very impressive - big, bold, an upright figure seated on horseback, sword held triumphantly high, this black bronze just says authority and presence.
It is as much a statement of power, and a memorial to a dead knight/king. Perhaps it is no coincidence that this robust, meaningful statue, a champion of Macedonia nationalism (and by default Christianity), is positioned just outside the centuries old mosque.

This newly constructed statue is also at the top end of Sirok Sokak.
Stop, take some pics, but nice to have instead of a boring square with nothing.
Close to the clock tower, shops, and a great place to sit and relax

The Central plaza of Bitola near the Caat Kula park. Another of the many statues of Philip which can be found all over Macedonia. A little tacky and overdone.

This is an attractive rather recent landmark, in the center of town. If you were not going to be going past it, I would not recommend a special trip to see it. I believe it holds more significance for the locals than tourist appeal. I would like to see the square better taken care of.
