Due to the rainy weather (well we were in a rain forest), we didn't see all that many butterflys. But they also had monkeys and parrots which were free to roam and sit on your arm or head !, which was fun. The highlight for me was seeing hummingbirds up close. There where a number of rescued indigenous animals which were clearly well looked after.

The Butterfly Farm was difficult to find with very few signs. Once I arrived I was amazed at the size and colors of the butterflies. There are double doors so they don't escape of course. You can stay as long as you like. In the back they have birds that were rescued, abused and/or injured. Gorgeous birds, I saw Toucans, red Scarlet Macaws, the green Honduran Parrots and other birds I didn't know. It was nice to know that they are doing so much good as the birds were very well cared for. I made a donation and hope they stay in operation. People were very friendly there even if they didn't know English. Great visit from West End, Roatan.

A butterfly garden, indigenous mammals, monkeys and rain forest birds provided wonderful encounters. Our guide was spectacular.

This was soooo worth the $10 per person it cost to get in! Way better than the iguana place. We were met by a very knowledgeable guide, Jose, who walked us through the park, giving interesting and relevant facts about each critter we saw. We got to hold the capuchin monkeys and the parrots and the two other crazy critters (the olingo—a fat, fuzzy, lazy tree dwelling mammal; and the agouti (a large guinea pig looking thing). We saw, but didn’t touch, spider monkeys, toucans, butterflies, coatis, and some sort of small naive deer. The tour took about an hour—mostly because I didn’t want to leave the monkeys or put down the Olingo.

Situated on the second floor of the Coconut Tree Resort where incidentally you have 'the best bang for your buck' you can see the ocean through palm trees swaying in the sunny breeze with crystal clear water where you can scuba dive for the cheapest rates in the world The dive shop is connected to the Coconut Tree Resort and you can get a package deal for accommodations and diving. See Rolando the manager at the Coconut Tree Resort for details. There is also a bar at the front of the restaurant. You will get great service from 'Memo' the bar tender whom has a great personality and will enter in a friendly discussion with you over a cold beer or what ever. The food is good and the atmosphere is nice being an open concept. They have a live entertainment once week. They also have a friendly cat which you can pet if you like cats. In all it is a good place to eat and relax with friends or alone. i would recommend it to anyone and I spend a lot of time there. They also have internet if you want to use your computer. Buen apetito!
