We loved our meal! The owner is originally from Sintra in Portugal and married an Indian. They have been here for 30 years and he has mastered the art of cooking delicious meals! My wife loved the chicken liver while I enjoyed a piri piri chicken. Our kids had 2 classic soups and we all shared several desserts.

Service was excellent and the atmosphere is very peaceful which is nice after walking the busy streets. After dinner, the chef/owner came out and we chatted for a half hour on everything from India to Portugal and cooking. Great guy with a great place.

This is worth the stop and we've been eating all around the area for a week. Enjoy.

In went looking for Horse Shoe since I'd heard they had good Portuguese food. Here the address is listed as 'next to Bank of India, Mala' but when you ask around, no one knows, maybe the bank moved. Horse Shoe is at E-245 Rua de Ourem, the road that runs along the Ourem creek. It is near the Old Patto bridge.
The food is Goan and Portuguese, more Portuguese than Goan. I started with a cocktail called Belle, Feni, sweet vermouth and lime juice (I tried it out of curiosity, wasn't too good so I moved to beer). I tried some Camarao, fried prawns with Goan masala, and some Feijoada (Pork, butter beans, sausages and red chillies). For dessert, I had Serradura, a vanilla souffle topped with crushed biscuit. The food was good.
Among other interesting dishes on the menu were Pao con Chouricos (Goa sausage and bread), Ameijoas Bulhao de Pato (Clams in white wine), Pixe fritto (fried fish), Carne Assada (roast beef and potatoes) and Carne de Porco Assada (roast pork with potatoes).

Albeit being still bit full from a heavy lunch we went to horse shoe to experience the recommendation we been seeing from all angle - and was throughly satisfied.

We had vegetable soup and fried sausage for appetizer - both clean and sublime seasoning. The main being pan fried fish and vagatable was perfectly done. The high light was also the slightly sour and crisp bread they served throughout.

For dessert ate every crumb of cashew nut cake and they gave us a slice of a chocolate cake which was for the shops anniversary - which both were moist and with well balanced sweetness.

We are fuasy eaters and not a fan of strong taste that overwhelm taste buds but more well balanced ones that stimulates - and this place made ua happy at each dish right to the last drop.

Visit this one-of-a-kind restaurant in Panjim for authentic Portugese & Goan food. Mr Vasco Silveira, the owner and the cook, will be happy to guide you through what your "heart desires" balanced with what he holds fresh that day. A unique gastronomic experience that no one else can provide in GOA.

We have been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed yet! Vasco the owner/chef is the perfect host as well as accommodating. He comes and chats and if you have a special request (like my son who does not like very spicy food and this is Goan Portuguese!) he makes it less spicy - since it is all freshly prepared and cooked.

However, don't come here if you are in a hurry or very hungry - since it is all freshly cooked, it can take time... but it's definitely worth the wait.

Also it can be advisable to call ahead and check the timings. He is supposed to be open at lunch times and in the evenings, but that is not always the case. Hey after all this is Goa!!!
