There is nothing much about this place except for the huge reclining statue of the Buddha. The temple and even the statue are in a very bad shape and there is practically no maintenance. There are hardly any visitors and only those who are aware of this place come here. Also there is hardly any activity except for a few shops near this temple selling trinkets. Huge statue but badly kept, disappointing.

This Buddha is beautiful. He looks like he’s having a wonderful dream. Easy to get to off the side of the road.

Our guide told us this buddha is a reproduction because the original was destroyed when Ayutthaya was razed. There is no temple left either. Not worth it.

This is a very large nicely carved reclining Buddha. It was not very crowded at all when we went. We found it worth a visit and for most people it would not be a long stop. There are, however, some other images, ruins and parkland at the far rear of the ruins that are nice. One could either walk there or take whatever their transportation is and walk around and enjoy the area for a bit. The main event, however, is the reclining Buddha. I am a lover of the teachings of the Buddha, so that could make it more meaningful for me than for some.

Impressive in its own right, but nothing in comparison to the reclining Buddha in Bangkok or indeed the ruins in the rest of the Ayutthaya area. If you are in the area or on a tour, it’s a pleasant 15 minute stop - including a most impressive small shop run by a man who creates intricate designs from buffalo skin (sounds odd - but looks beautiful).
