One of the owners/touts approached us as we boarded the ferry to Koh Lanta from Koh Phi Phi Don. The woman was the first to approach us (this will happen to you ALOT), and we walked away with a 1 night stay for 700 baht....3 people in an A/C bungalow with a porch and two beds. Not a bad deal so I figured I had made a huge mistake.

However, we were pleasantly surprised by this place. There was a free pick-up to the hotel when we arrived and about 20-25 minutes later we were on Khlong Khong Beach. The only negative about this place is the location. While on the beach and in the central part of the island's populated west coast, the beach itself is not much to look at and probably not something you're going to want to jump in. Actually, the beach was littered with trash right in front of the hotel restaurant.

The room itself was fairly nice all things considered. Clean. Had a TV, but it didn't work. Decent enough bathroom. OK beds. Nice porch with a couple chairs. Quiet.

Crappy beach problem aside, this was a great home base for our other Koh Lanta activities. Just rent a 200-250 baht motorbike for the day and have fun exploring the rest of the island....highly recommend taking a couple hours to grab lunch on the eastern part of the island and visiting the "hammock house" to buy yourself or someone else an incredibly nice hammock. we also really really enjoyed Ao Kantiang beach.....thought it was the nicest beach on the island and very very few people on it. schweet.

We spent almost a week and this hotel and we loved it! Very friendly staff, delicious food, nice beach... close to the village and other brach bars.
This resort has all amenities that resort should have... :))

We stayed here for 2 nights , and had seen it in lonely planet. Think it was a bit overrated. There were definatly a few possives but many negatives stay in my mind more. The bungalow seemed nice clean and tidy when we arrived, the bathroom did seem to need a bit of doing up. No hot shower either. We the thought the beach looked really great (at high tide) and couldn't wait to go for a swim in the morning, but the beach is full of rocks so you can't swim there, hence them having a swimming pool at the resort. The manager a small older man seemed nice at dinner and the bar staff were alot of fun. We really enjoyed the food at the resort, some of the nices thai food we had on the whole holiday in thailand. The bar area is really chilled out and alot of fun with beachy vibe. We looked forward to heading there every night. The next day we had booked a trip snorkelling and when the manager realised we had not booked it through the resort from then on we were given bad service as he was furious at us, and made us feel guilty. The final thing that might turn most of you out there off is like us was the toilet and sewage situation. On our first morning we discovered that there is a problem with the sewage or drainage, I'm not sure, but what I did know is that whenever you went into the bathroom you wanted to leave quickly before you started to heave at the stench of stail urine. An it seemed like it wasn't just our bungalow either seemed other guests incounted the same problem. So I have mixed feelings about the emerald, great food and fun bar, but also old smelly bathroom with a grumpy manager

We stayed in a bungalow at Emerald for 3 nights. For 500 bahts a night, there is nothing to complain about. The room was quite big, with a spacious bathroom. The food at their restaurant was good and cheap. A very nice place to relax. It's next to the beach, but this is clearly not the best beach on Koh Lanta. The southernmost beaches are much nicer, but for the price, it was very good. They also have a big swimming pool. The pick-up at the pier is included ; the hotel is not accessible by foot. You can however rent a motorbike for 200 bahts per day at the hotel. A very nice thing to do. You can this way enjoy a ride around the island, easily go to the city center and other nice restaurants around the island. Also, the roads are not very busy. The visit of the Khao Mai Kaew Cave on Koh Lanta is very worth it too, if you don't mind being covered in mud. Quite impressive!
The downsides : we had to fight 2-3 cockroaches in the room and the selection of tv channels provided was not really appropriated, unless you like to watch religious programs of all kind and sermons in asian languages.
They also have an Internet room : 2 bahts per minute or 100 baths per hour.

We really liked it! Everyone who was staying here, booked extra nights. And we did too. Ting Tong Bar (the bar from the hotel) is also the best. The stuff is really nice! Toffee, you're great! Everyone should go here!
