I had the pleasure of studying with David of Phoenix Divers for the PADI scuba diver certification and it was such a cool, rewarding, and special experience. David is modest so he won't volunteer (or brag) about how knowledgable and experienced he is but he has great stories about things he's done and seen and is willing to share if you ask. He was a great instructor - attentive, patient, knowledgable, good-natured, and adaptive to my needs/skills. One of the things I respected most was that he wasn't just there to show me how to set up my gear, clear my mask, etc. He wanted me to take ownership of the skills we practiced and theory from the manual so he'd ask me questions not to test me but to keep me actively engaged in the process. He answered every question I had, provided encouragement and congratulations when I fulfilled certification requirements, and took my fiancé and I on several dives that I will never forget. And the rest of his crew was just as delightful! I'm forever grateful for the experience and recommend Phoenix hands down. And someday I hope to return to Koh Lanta to dive with them again.
