Always head here when in koh phangan. The British breakfast is brilliant, amazing sausages. Just what you need to start the day after a few too many the night b4. Thai food is also good, The place is very relaxed and usually has tv on behind bar and opens out onto a quiet road and is run by a friendly English lad.

We had to wait an hour for our ferry so we went to johns and it was exactly what was needed.

The chilli and basil curry was delicious and if your looking for a fry up on Koh phangan you can't beat John's sausages! Serious bangers.

The vanilla ice cream shake was so refreshing too.

Check it out!

Can't speak for the pies but the breakfast was horrible. We ordered a "fresh" juice, iced coffee, and eggs Benedict. "Fresh" juice tasted like it came of a can taken from a sunken pirate ship. When we asked the waitress about it she confirmed that the juice was indeed not fresh (although it clearly says fresh on the menu). She made no effort to apologize or take it off our bill (over $2). The hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict was watery and sour to the point were I had to remove them from that plate. To someone with a minor in chemistry the Iced coffee had 98% stale water, 1.2% powdered coffee like substance, and .8% island dew. We ended up paying around $20. Outrageous!

Pieman John has been making his homemade pies for years. I love pie and I love munching on Johns variety of pies when Im on Koh Phangan. He also makes a fantastic roast on a sunday with all the trimmings, its a big feed too, more than enough, which is unusual round those parts. When my friend fell off his moped, John helped look after him and cleaned and patched him up, top man! Funny guy too, like Koh Phangans Basil Fawlty. Aaaaaaaand they sell cider... (but dont think that falling asleep drunk outside of his bar when he's closed because it's your safe place is acceptable, it isn't)

Plus they have superfast wifi and make a mean latte
