Desert Shade
Reviewed 15 April 2016

Situated at the rim of the Ramon crater, the dramatic view is 50% of the experience. The sunrises it the desert expanse, seen from the many outdoor places to laze and sit. It is a simple place that fits its surroundings. The people are lovely. suitable for budget travellers.

Room Tip: if it's summer, sleep outside! plenty of mattresses and look at the stars.

For 2 old geezers like me and my husband, we really enjoyed the authentic like bare bones kinda place. I could not stay for more than one night because the pillows were not so good. Next time, I will bring a pillow! The showers and toilet are not in the room, it is a camp ground like atmosphere. The cabins were warm and cozy(,looks like they are made of straw and mud or something like that ) and I loved hearing the winds of the negev whipping around the cabin at night. The desert/bedouin style common rooms had a most beautiful serene view and atmosphere. One can totally relax there and write a book! We brought a bottle of wine and some food with us, prepared it in the common kitchen, played sheshbesh, drank our wine and very much enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. We enjoyed the hot tea made available to the guests. The man in charge was friendly and helpful. There seemed to be many hikers staying there. Could also have a great time there with a group of people or a big family week end stay.

If you jave no explanation and happy to put your head to rest this might be the place for you.
The vew is beautiful, breath taking, overlooking the crateor. The hats are thin, you every breath of your neighbors so don't expect any privacy. Yet, if you look for relatively cheap place, at great location as hiking start point then you are at the right spot.

The rooms and the main house had no heat, and the old pillows which are supposed to be the mattress on a hard platform were so disgusting that we could not stay there. The owner refused to refund our money. Buyer Beware do not book this as there is no refund and it is run down and hard to get to the outdoor bathrooms in the night.

Room Tip: Other hotels in the area are much better deals
