The rooms are very big, typical old colonial style. However the rooms need to be upgraded. the bathrooms also need to be done up. The gardens have been kept exceptionally well. Also the view of the surroundings is beautiful, very pleasant view from the bedrooms. if the rooms are done up it will be a beautiful place to stay. the service was very slow. The staff are very friendly. There is internet in the lobby and restaurants but not in the bedrooms

Room Tip: rooms on the same side as the restaurant have pleasant view.

We were 2 families occupying 2 out of the 3 cottages. The bathroom had a nasty shower curtain that looked like it had been left in dirty water for too long, the bedrooms had a gaps in the doors and windows - I suspect they're the original windows - and that's. It a complement!
The manager Wallace was by far the best thing about the Outspan - he went out of his way to ensure our needs were met - it's a shame the rest of the staff are not as enthusiastic - I called back with a query after we'd checked out but despite their many promises to get back to me, they never did.
The grounds are fantastic - we didn't manage to do the river walk as the weather wasn't favourable but we did get to enjoy some cosy fires.
All in all - it's a very dated hotel and the owners need to undertake some serious updating of the buildings and decor - that whole 'colonial' look doesn't cut it any more.

Everything in this old hotel screams colonial style, from the wood interiors to the chimney in the room that you can ask the staff to light up to keep warm at night. Decent breakfast and well kept grounds.
