The location and the price just can't be beat. I stayed in the VIP room with three friends over the weekend of Lunar New Year and we only payed 140,000 KRW for two nights. Compared to Seoul and other locations I've stayed at, this is a pretty good deal. Sure, the decor is ancient and the beds are hard, but for the price and the Korean preference for hard mattresses it's not terrible.
The VIP room includes one queen and one double bed, a steam shower, Jacuzzi, separate toilet, couch, TV, and computer. The staff does not speak English, but learn a little Korean to get by and deal with it (you are in Korea). You can make reservations in advance and check in during the afternoon (not all motels let you do this before 5 or 8 pm). I would stay there again if I went back to Gwangju on a trip.More
