Mar e Iguana was wonderful! Clean and comfortable rooms, the staff was always friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere couldn't have been more beautiful or welcoming. It was rather rainy during my stay, but with great recommendations and even better company, my trip to Bocas remained a success. The hostel is a little farther away from downtown than some, but more than worth the extra walk/cab ride. I cannot wait until my next visit!

We stayed at Mar e Iguana for almost two weeks while the initial plan was to stay only a couple of days. The friendly owner Riccardo and staff, the well equipped and clean kitchen and the beautiful and cozy rooms made us feel at home so it was very difficult to leave! There is a really nice patio and garden that create a green atmosphere around and a nice mirador with sea view with ammaks to chill.I would recommend this well kept and beautifully organised hostel to everyone! You will not be disappointed! Lara & Iggy

excellent hostel, food very good and the staff very friendly and ready to help. It is a remote town about 15 minutes walking down making it very quiet. Bocas del Toro has many places to go, I recommend the tour to Cayo shoe.

Wao! The room you see in the picture is actually where my wife and I stayed! Cuba, the barkeep and bike rental guy, was charming, laid back and overall a pleasure to be around.....Riccardo can show you the best of beaches on his now famous tour of the bay...Carolina, well.....a wonderful smile and overall good and pleasant demeanor.....Peppe, the chef, can cook an excellent meal.....bar none!

I read the other reviews and I must be honest! It´s all what you make of it! If you want the Taj Mahal, go pay for it.....but if you want a quaint, quite interesting place to call home for a couple of days.....you know where I will send you.
We will most certainly be back! If you read this, do yourself a favor.....experience it!

The hostel is a beautiful and quiet place to relax. Although it's not in the centre of the town, it is very easy accessible by either taxi or by walking. And just at the corner of the street there is a supermarket where you can get wathever you want. On the same street near the supermarket there is a laundry shop as well.
The hostel crew was very friendly and helpful. We stayed there for a total of four nights and the only thing was that we had to move to a nearby apartment for the second night until we could move back for the final two nights. It was because we booked per e-mail but someone also booked on hostelworld.com. But it was totally fine for us because we still payed the same price for the night at the apartment as we would have payed for the room at the hostel.
