Owner description: The focus of this open-air memorial to Mahatma Gandhi is a black marble platform marking the place where the peace leader was cremated after his assassination in 1948. It's a peaceful, beautiful site; memorial ceremonies are held on Fridays.

Rajghat, where Gandhiji and other dignitories are creamated has always been an important place to visit in Delhi but with the schools visiting in huge numbers; it has rather becime a picinic spot than a place ro remder hommage to great man. In other times it is peacwful greeen ans serene..!!! A must visit place...!!!

Raj Ghat is located in Delhi behind Red Fort. I visited there in the month of February. The view of the Raj Ghat is so beautiful that we can't take eyes off from that view. It has amazing flowers other beautiful things. The day was spent well with my friends.

A well kept site dedicated to mahatma Gandhi. He was cremated he and his ashes spread in the Ganges.

The site has a black marble plinth at the point on cremation with landscaped gardens all around the area.

You can go right up the plinth with an eternal flame if you wish, but must remove footwear and observe dress codes.

An interesting site, with our guide giving us the history of Gandhi and his achievements.

Close by is parking with shops and toilets, and a further life size statue of the man himself.

Worth a visit if you have the time, but a little outside of New Dehli.
