We travelled to India with friends who had not been there before. After a long flight and a very early morning arrival we needed a hotel that allowed us to ease into our Indian experience, so chose the Maidens. We were not disappointed. This is a charming hotel, beautifully maintained and set in lovely grounds.

Our rooms were fantastic (we had asked for the better rooms on higher floors) - large, well appointed, beautiful big bathrooms and all spotlessly clean. Staff were extremely professional, courteous and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Buffet breakfast was great with very helpful wait staff.

While the hotel is a few kilometres away from the city centre this was not a problem - it is easy enough to get a taxi or auto rickshaw.

One minor criticism would be the state of the swimming pool which could have been cleaner and hence detracted from the overall look of the lovely grounds (admittedly it was winter and the pool was not being used, but it should be maintained regardless).

Overall though, an excellent hotel and would visit again.

Room Tip: If your budget permits get rooms on higher floors. We also asked for rooms with windows as apparently some don't have windows. Again, depends on your budget.

I stayed in April after a trip to Chennai, stayed for 5 days was delighted by both the service and the room. I was on the 3rd floor and the rooom was huge.

I was made to feel very welcome and the service at the front desk, bar and dining room was excellent.

The dining room and bar are small but feel very much in keeping with the surroundings and being out of the city centre suited me. The metro nearby allowed me to get into the centre avoiding the traffic when I needed to.

I look forward to returning again and would recommend the hotel

Delhi is one of those places where there are a lot of cheap hotels and a lot of nice hotels. And the nice hotels don't come cheap. The Maidens seems to be placed nicely in between and towards the nice side.
The staff are excellent and helpful. The food is good. The property itself is very charming as it is an old colonial style building.
I've stayed twice with groups that I've brought to India on meditation retreats and it was very fitting for us as it was quiet and uplifting. The first stay we were upgraded to the rooms upstairs that were very nice (2009). On the second visit in 2011 we stayed in the rooms downstairs and I was a little disappointed. For the money, the rooms felt tired and the bathroom could certainly use an upgrade. It was clean but well passed its date. Everything was very old and not in a good way.
I'd recommend the hotel for sure and will use it again (and plan to next year) but will certainly spend that little extra and get an upgrade.

This property evokes a by-gone era where rooms are large and spacious, grounds are lush and opulent and service is the main reason for existence. The location isn't great if you're after night life but we were so tired after our international flight we didn't care. The bathroom was HUGE and the toiletries provided were extremely welcome.

We were pleasantly surprised by the staff who went out of their way to accommodate our needs. I wanted just a small amount of cold milk with which to make a cup of tea in our room and they couldn't have been more helpful. In other hotels we stayed at during our trip to India this request was either too hard or we had to pay.

The buffet breakfast was good and dinner even better. The main restaurant doesn't open until 7:30pm but the staff could see we were hungry (and tired) and suggested dining in the breakfast room with the restaurant menu which was delicious.

Overall a great place in which to kick start a tour of this amazing country!

First experience of a hotel in India, the room the first night was really comfortable and could not fault it, on the last day when we returned we were put on the 3rd floor and this completely surpassed our expectations - it was a suite and was enormous! The hotel staff were extremely friendly and the service excellent, the food was very enjoyable, could just imagine this hotel in days gone by.
