Stayed at the YWCA three separate times (beginning of May, end of May and middle of June) during a college trip through India. Rooms were clean, breakfast was good and the staff was friendly and helpful. Part of our group stayed in the dorm style room and said it was nice but you also could add a bed to a regular double room for around 600 rupees.
We felt very safe during our stay. The YWCA is a few minutes walk to metro station/ General Post Office in one direction, and Hanuman Square and Connaught Place in the other. Would highly recommend visiting the Sikh Gurudwara (Bangla Sahib) which is very close/ right next to the YWCA.

This is a really good option if you are looking for basic but clean accommodation in Delhi. The rooms are very spacious with bed(s), TV, proper desk, couch chairs, closet, AC and fan. The bathroom has hot water shower, toilet paper and nice towels. Everything worked and was clean. For a small fee there is also WiFi. There is a restaurant downstairs which serves good Indian food at reasonable prices. I appreciated it not to have to go far to get breakfast or dinner. The hostel is situated quite central near several attractions. When going back to Delhi for the second time it didn't even occur to me to look for another hotel to stay.

Planning a business trip to Delhi proved to be a monumental challenge, with my friends being out of town and the hotels prohibitively expensive. I wanted a place which was cheap, quiet, safe, comfortable and well connected, and this charming hostel more than met my requirements. I did look up the reviews of other travelers and agree with them that the single annoying feature of this hotel is the tardy communication. Booking my room was fairly easy by email but not online, and further emails for making small enquiries were met with a stony silence. Upon threat of cancellation, they finally replied with all the information I needed!

The rest went without a hitch. A spartan but cosy room, good and clean bathroom with hot water and a quiet A/c; for a good night's sleep these were enough for me. I made my bed every morning and did not avail any room service, which I suspect would have been rather shoddy. The buffet breakfast was simple yet filling, so no complaints there, considering the budget accomodation.

But the one thing that is indisputable is the safety factor, especially for single women travelers, along with proximity to the metro, good connectivity by public transportation and the commercial hub of the city within walking distance. Delhi is a city with an urban sprawl but with a huge number of trees too, and this place is tucked away in a shaded lane, offering the best of both worlds. The Gurudwara Bangla Saheb is just next door and merits a visit too- first for the opulence, then the esthetics and finally the langar!

We stayed here for a few days at the beginning and end of our trip. It's a basic hotel, but clean. Though the beds are not very comfortable. It is very well located - we walked to Connaught place easily, as well as to markets close by. It's around 10 minutes from the train station. It's easy to arrange transportation with the front desk. Internet was very spotty in our room; it normally worked at reception though. If you are looking for a clean, safe, inexpensive hotel, this is a good choice.

I stayed for one night to attend a meeting. The place is neat and clean and well kept with strict rules about guests coming to meet you. The reception is nice and efficient. The rooms are big and so are the bathrooms but the facilities are basic, but neat and clean. They provide room heaters in winters and A/Cs are there for summers. The restaurant very basic is on the ground floor and service was OK and food was good but not much of choice. The manager of the restaurant was very helpful. They have hall for conference and board rooms for meetings as well, available on payment. Very centrally located in New Delhi, very near to Connaught Place, Janpath market and India Gate. Just next to Bangla Sahib Gurudwara of Sikhs. Very safe place. Remember to take your gate pass from reception when you check out.

Room Tip: I found the rooms on the ground floor to be better. There is no lift in this hostel.
