The Equatorial is no more than two hours drive from KL (Straight down the E1 Highway towards Johor Bahru). The hotel is situated pretty central to Malacca town and is next to Carrefour supermarket. It has an outdoor restaurant attached outside called K5 where the food is very good (eat Al Fresco). You can take breakfast here if it is not included with your room. There are plenty attractions here to see from fortresses to ships and museums. Tri Shaw's are plentiful and are lit up at night playig music as they take tourists around. At night (Friday and Saturday) head for the famous Jonker Street where the road is closed to traffic and stalls appear selling food and all types of goods, many of which come from Indonesia, so barter on price. On Saturday nights be sure to walk to the far end of Jonker street where you will come across a Karaoke stage where people (mainly Chinese) get up to sing and dance. Chairs are provided to sit and watch (what a fantastic atmosphere). Sit and have a beer or tea /coffee whilst watching. Upon leaving Malacca, if you are driving a car then head up the coastal road to Port Dickson where you will pass through kampungs and see life as it is. This road will then take you to Sepang (Formula F1 Racing) and then back to KL.

For Melaka standard, the covered basement carpark is ample. The entrance is a bit narrow so be careful. The lots can be harp hazzardly arranged. For 3 days my BMW was safe & not vandalised. Convenient, use room card key to exit & enter.
Check-in staff are polite, efficient & helpful esp Sara & Vincent. Sara even arranged connecting rooms for us. Kudos to Eddy, the concierge staff who is very helpful, resourceful, competent & caring. He helped me with directions on where to eat even simple RM1 nasi lemak in bungkus daun pisang. We bought a blueberry white chocalate cake & some chips, the staff Noridah was pleasant.
When i called up for technical services for the buzzing noise from the bathroom mirror lights & the faulty foyer light, the engineers were prompt to solve the problems & very polite & considerate to our needs. Even, the kitchen staff who served us nasi goreng at 11pm was courteous & apologetic for the long wait. The food was yummy indeed for RM28.
Location is perfect for shopping, eating, massage & historic sites. Good views from the windows. Dataran Pahlawan & Mahkota shopping malls are just few seconds walk away from hotel. Restaurants & eateries are everywhere & also at Melaka Raya which is also located just across the road.
The fort A Formosa & the museums are 5 minutes walk away.
I don't mind returning if Hotel can give better room rates.

Check in was quick, 10 minutes or less. Room looked a little old, esp the doors. But I liked the 2 seater sofa. and the big coffee table. We ordered room service 3 times and it always arrived within 30 mins as estimated. Food was good. Service was friendly. A comfortable safe stay.

We stayed 2 nights at the Club Room. The hotel is situated at a very strategic location, right at the heart of the city centre. The service was speedy, from the check in to the check out. The Club Room was really cosy, spacious, with flat screen TV, a nice comfortable sofa as well as good view of the city. We found the room to be very spacious and we had 2 balconies which was good as we got view of the sea as well as the bustling city. The bathroom was clean and very well planned. Breakfast at the coffee house was good, they has a good fare of international as well as local cuisine. Though it was a weekend and was relatively crowded, the F&B staff could still handle the crowd. Given the location and service of the hotel, we will surely consider returning.
