Jonker Street is crowded, lively, stimulating, and exciting. You can eat, shop, browse, and people watch all on the same street. It gets very crowded on holiday weekends but is a must for any traveler to Melaka.

A great area to explore! Don't just stick to the main street. Get down the side streets for loads of interesting shops, cafes, temples, mosques, churches and the rest!

Jonker street is your typical night market. It's not anything truly special but it's still a great place to hang out at nights in Melaka. There's many different options of things to do like souvenir shopping, watching some person break coconuts with his finger, have dinner or just plain walk around and people watch.

Unfortunately a lot of the antique/curio shops have been replaced with modern junk. Some of the "antiques" were reproductions but with a very high price. Shame really but the buildings are quaint.
