We had our daughters wedding here - she wanted something different from the usual informal beach wedding - wanted a formal wedding in this informal environment! We were pretty concerned at getting it all right and dealt with the wedding coordinator at the resort - but that wasnt very easy! When we finally got there, we found that they totally undersold themselves and were capable of putting on a fantastic wedding - we just had to say what we wanted - they dont suggest anything.....despite having all sorts of resources!
They could not do enough for us and the wedding was a total success.
The bures/rooms are all spacious and well laid out - the food is great - we had the three meal a day plan which was far too much food to eat - there are places to get a quick and cheap snack for lunch so I dont recommend having the three meal plan.
The sea is gorgeous and snorkelling is great, even right off the beach.

There are two things that you need to be aware of here though, one is that it is a family resort so unless you have younger kids, you may want to go somewhere else as the place is teaming with kids - if you have kids, then it is a fantastic place to go as they are well catered for!

This was our second time at this resort and I was disappointed this time to find that almost the entire place had a smell coming from the sewage plant which really put me off. I hope they have done something about it by now! Check, if you are going.

Spent 10 nights at Plantation Island Resort (10 of us in total - 8 adults and 2 littlies) and it was fantastic! It was my first time there (everyone else were seasoned Plantation gurus) and I was blown away by how friendly the staff was and how laidback, yet on-to-it everything was - atmosphere, dining, activities, you name it! Great place to unwind and a perfect beach - I didn't want to come home. We're all planning to go back again next year, we liked it so much :D

This was our first visit to Plantation Island Resort. We stayed in a Garden Bure on the 300 side. The bures were cleaned well daily although the bathroom was really run down. We asked for a bure on the 200 side from reading previous reviews but they said they were only available if you booked a 2 bedroom bure, didn't really matter because we didn't spend much time in their anyway. There are heaps of activities to choose from whether you decide to do free ones or pay, definately recommened the free snorkling at low tide especially if you have young kids they have so many beautiful tropical fish to see near the coral ! The water is absolutely beautiful and clear , the sun is quite strong so make sure you take extra sunscreen. Take light casual clothes no one was really dressed up even for dinner. The food was ok kids eat for free breakfast, lunch and dinner they give you vouchers when you arrive. The best way to go is decide when you get there for meal plans, doesn't really work out cheaper to get the meal plan, unless if you can get a great discount on meal plans through your travel agent pre book it. We packed a whole heap of snack food in a small sports bag and declared it through customs and it was fine. Take duty free alcohol with you as spirits are expensive to buy there. They have a couple of shops at the resort you can buy water, drinks etc. Keep tabs on everything you sign for to your room, as they had got a couple of things wrong on check-out. If you can take your own beach towels cause theres smelt a bit like mildew. Take some pegs to hang your wet things out on the line at the front of your Bure. The kids club was good although very relaxed so probably would only leave your kids there if they were old enough to know not to leave unless mum or dad came to get them. We organised a babysitter one night it was $3fjd per child per hour and she was fantastic. All the Fijians were really friendly. We had a fantastic time I wish I was still there, definately would go back !

Just got back from a five night stay on Plantation Island. I had read the reviews prior to leaving and was a bit worried about what we would experience but had a fantastic time. A holiday is what you make it and if you are looking for problems you will always find them. We stayed in a studio garden bure and yes it was a bit of a walk back to the resort as it was one of the last ones before you get to Anandas. So was this a problem? Not if you were organised. We grabbed all our beach gear each morning and dropped it off on a sunlounger while we ate breakfast and didn't need to go back to the room until it was time to get changed for dinner so didn't notice the trek. The room was perfectly adequate and roomy. It was serviced each day and the beds were made and fresh towels daily. Sure it had minor maintenance issues - shutters that didn't open, leaking bathroom tap etc but who cares. We were there to spend time on the beach not in our rooms and apart from sleeping in them, spent less than one hour in the bure each day. We got the five day meal plan and were satisfied each day with the choice. We ate more than normaly and had pudding after lunch and tea! Didn't have to buy any food for the whole trip as the three buffet meals were enough. Yes the breakfast was the same each day but we have the same breakfast each day at home so it was no big deal. Lunch and tea had different meal options each day. The comments about the drinks are true, they are expensive but only when you drink at the bars and resturants. You could buy cheaper at the minimarts and drink in your room, by the pool and on the beach no problems. Our kids who are quite fussy eaters always found something they liked to eat and on one occasion, they didn't like any of the options so just filled up on the puddings! Who cares, we were on holiday! There was no problems with service, we were shown a table straight away and then very quickly the drinks server and waitress would arrive. Sometimes it was very busy but there were a lot of staff there. We never purchased a meal off the menu so can't comment on that side of things. The beach is amazing, perfectly clear waters with fish swimming right up to the shore. The activities were great and I would recommend checking the board on your first day and then booking what you want to do for the week as they did fill up quickly. You must do the free snorkling - swimming amongst schools of fish was one of those experiences that you may only do once in your lifetime. We were there when there was the tsunami warning and were evacuated off the resort and walked up to the hill. We had to stay up there for 1 1/2 hours and it was the first time the staff had ever done this. It was done efficiently and quickly and I felt completely safe the whole time but of course was glad that no wave arrived. For those of you who are about to go and are reading these reviews - don't worry about it, don't go looking for problems. You will have a great time. It really is paradise.
