A good hotel has many amenities but once they are covered what'S next is customer service. The Ritz-Carlton has no peer when it comes to customer service. EVERY emoyee was friendly and smiling without being obtrusive.

I really enjoyed having dinner at the buffet restaurant and lobby lounge bar after dinner. Mocktails are good and food is generally good as well.
I had the pleasure to meet harris, which assisted me very nice with everything.
I will back for sure and stay two weeks.

I was expecting much more from a Ritz Carlton Hotel. First, the rooms are okay and the breakfast is a mess. Long lines for everything, missing food all the time, a lot of bureaucracy and papers to sign - which gave problems during the check out. The bedroom is okay, not modern and actually with a small bathroom. The service at the hotel was terrible. They got me a taxi to the wrong airport (after I showed them my ticket flight), long lines to elevator. Also, there was a Prime Minister hosted there, which caused all the other guests to be "checked in a x ray" and by police guards every time we live the hotel, for anything. If you don't have structure to support the visit of a important person and all you regular guests at the same time, don't do both. We also had problems with our room keys. We were in a big group and all our keys were blocked during one night giving us another big line to solve the issue. After all the bad experience, the hotel was also not able to deal with all the complains and again presented a bad service. Although the hotel location is beautiful, it is not a good place with you want to walk during the night, go to a great bar or restaurant. It just a bunch of very expensive stores that you probably won't buy anything unless you are the prime minister.

The Portman Ritz-Carlton is ideally located in Jing An, on a main road but still in a quiet environment as the hotel does not give directly onto the street. Service is excellent: Hotel employees are really helpful, nice & polite. Unfortunately the hotel is quite old (~25 years old) and therefore absolutely not "state-of-the-art". When you compare to more recent hotels such as the brand new Jing An Shangri-La you clearly feel the time gap! When you come in Ritz Carlton, it looks like you are living in the 80s-90s. Comfortable but absolutely not modern.
All in all the Portman Ritz Carlton is a good hotel thanks to excellent service but I did like the furniture. Breakfast is average, bed is good.

In the heart of downtown, the hotel has a spectacular lobby, great food and beverage, vey comfy rooms and, of course, very well trained staff. Plenty easy to walk to expensive shopping. Several good restaurants in the complex which includes the hotel itself. Rooms are good size, wifi is great, restaurants excellent, great lobby bar.

Room Tip: Good urban views. Rooms very quiet.
