For our last evening in Costa Rica, we really weren’t expecting to find a fantastic dining experience in the bigger city, after our great meals throughout the country. However, we read about this place and wanted to give it a try. Our hotel manager didn’t know about it, and neither did the Driver (who asked US to use OUR Waze to direct him). We got there and knew we wouldn’t have a table for five because it’s super small - like 5 tables max- but we were quickly welcomed by Saul, the owner, and told if we sat at the counter, everything would be alright. What an understatement! What a treat for all of us! The counter overlooks the entire (small) kitchen area, an incredibly efficient use of small space, and it was truly an entertaining and educational dining experience. The two chefs spoke with us, explained what they were doing and preparing. Saul told us the story of his opening as a fish market and transitioning to restaurant by way of selling his delicious ceviche. He opened more tables and added other delicious items to the menu. All seafood with the exception of a pasta dish. The grilled octopus was beautiful, unique and delicious. Everybody enjoyed their food. The sea bass was a gorgeous dish and delicious. The ceviche and tartare were great. Even the pasta dish was delish. We loved everything about this experience! Charming! Loved the special drink - something with ginger ale, lemon and blackberry juice. Very sweet but delicious to sip on. Also, Kevin and Saul make gorgeous and delicious desserts. Don’t miss this opportunity, especially as you’re ending your visit to Costa Rica. So worthwhile!

The owner (Italian?) takes great pride in his food, and offers up delicious, beautifully presented dishes. Although the menu is in Spanish, his english is excellent, and he took the time to explain the various options to us. We enjoyed everything from the wine to the ceviche, to our fish dishes (I had the sea bass pan seared in brown sage), to the dessert. The panna cotta was amazing, and when we told the owner that the tiramisu was a little frozen, he deducted it from the tab. Amazing all around. I highly recommend you make a reservation because there's only about 4 tables and bar seating.

We were looking for a local, good eats place and happened on this 'amazing, culinary experience' The owner/chef was interactive and interested in our meal choice and offered suggestions that culminated into a 'best meal ever'. We live in the Boston area, so food choices are easy, and tonight's experience rivals anything we could imagine!
Enjoy, and best luck to Saul and his crew!!

This is a very convenient restaurant near the airport. It was about a mile from our hotel, Marriot Courtyard, but because of night traffic, it took 15 minutes to get to. This is a local fish restaurant with only menus in Spanish. The waitress was very helpful with our poor Spanish. The ceviche is delightful. The shrimp tacos were yummy. The octopus was good. The Sangria was great!
