I read the other reviews and feel sorry for the people that had not a good experience in Bali Hot Springs .
My name is Johan Spapen and my wife Faye , we had the greatest experience, we bin there 4 times now . Last time in January 2018 we did not eat there .
We try different restaurants in Las Fortuna .we enjoy the hot springs .
we did eat there the other times .And the food was always fantastic .
The staff is and always was great .
I wish it was closer to home I would visit even More .
It was a great time for My Wife and Me

Room Tip: We did stay there, but we like to stay in Las fortuna town

My friend and I did the day tour at Baldi for $40 which included either lunch or dinner. We chose dinner so we could have a relaxing afternoon and evening. You are able to go from 9am to 10pm with this pass. We showed up and the gentleman at the front desk was super helpful telling us everything we needed to know. We tried each of the pools and chose to go for the more hotter ones because they were more relaxing but we liked that we could dip our hands or our feet in the cold pools inside of the hot pools just to cool down from tome to time. Baldi is beautiful. We were relaxed the whole time and in aw of the beautiful architecture of each pool. There is a section dedicated to kids which was nice because we were trying to relax not be by a bunch of screaming kids. There were some kids in a couple pools we tried but there are so many pools to choose from that we just moved to a different one. The natural sauna and steam room are really neat to try. We each had a cocktail ($10 each) and loved them! I had the crazy monkey and my friend had the pura vida. Both highly recommended. Thank you Baldi for an amazing and relaxing day, we needed it!

Summary:
- Fake hot springs (heating is in wall, read below)
- tourist trap
- very low quality food
- expensive with low ROI

Detail:
This place might be good for families or people who don’t get out much, but for anybody well informed this place is a total ripoff.

First of all, the “hot springs” are heated onsite. The hot water falls out of these large man made rock sculptures. Walk up to one of the rock sculptures and you will find they are heating the water. That’s fine sometimes, but not if you bill yourself as a natural hot spring. It’s just not authentic Costa Rica. (Btw I found this so odd given the showers only have cold water.)

Second, it’s filled with tourists. Not like, “pura vida” tourists who came to experience Costa Rica, more like Disneyland commercial tourists brought in by the bus load (literally). Nothing says relax like selfie sticks and screaming children.

Third, the food is terrible. There are zero authentic dishes here. The bread is cold, the meat is VERY low quality, and the food at the buffet is filler food (iceberg lettuce, low quality vegetables, potatoes, etc). To top it off, their juice came from a can/bottle as if from a grocery store. This is the only place I’ve visited in Costa Rica that didn’t have fresh squeezed juice.

Finally, it’s expensive. All the above would be fine if they didn’t charge a fortune (by Costa Rica standards). Here’s some prices as of 1/28/2018 to give you an idea:
Locker to store your clothes = $6
Towel to dry off = $10
Cocktail = $10+
Beer = $6
The list goes on, but the point is that you can get WAY MORE for much less elsewhere in Costa Rica. Example: try the natural hot springs by the bridge for free, and bring your own beer for a much better time for way less (any taxi driver will be able to take you to the local hot springs).

Dear Oliver,

Thank you very much for sharing your detailed opinion.

We would like to to point out that our thermal waters are completely natural, they are extracted by pumping from the depth and water is distributed in all 25 pools continuously, that is, the water never remains stagnant but flows constantly, the water gets hot thanks to the volcanic veins of the Arenal Volcano.
With regard to the showers, we have showers with cold and hot water too.

It is a shame you didn't complain about this during your stay, we would have gladly explained and showed you the operation.

Warm regards,

Baldi Hot Springs

The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The food is quite good for breakfast, and service is excellent. I rated it a 4 because I rather like hot showers. Our shower was barely lukewarm during our 2 day visit. Also, there is not much of a view from the room. Otherwise, our stay was wonderful. It is easy to get into La Fortuna, and I really can’t say enough about how wonderful and gracious the entire staff was.

Took a tour here for the day. It included transportation with excellent guide, Hugo. He was very informative. We had an excellent lunch enroute and saw a sloth on the way. Weather wasn't great so we couldn't see the volcano very well. The resort is beautiful and well cared for. There is a section for children but caution to parents that take children, there are some scantily clad patrons that don't have a problem flaunting their bodies. In spite of that I would go again. Restaurant at resort is just okay but was included in package.
