This is a great tour with amazing staff. Hansel our guide was extremely knowledgeable. He didn't rush us and helped facilitate getting some amazing photo's. We saw over a dozen frog species, Bullet Ants, a Small Rainbow Boa and large Gecko, plus a bunch of other insect species. Hansel was amazing with my 8 year old son, engaging him through the entire tour, answering ALL his questions (and there was a lot.) My son loved it., and so did my parents who are avid bird watchers/ amateur photographers. They were blown away. Bottom line this tour is well worth your time for seeing some of the smaller night time creatures that populate Costa Rica.

We took the night tour -- sprayed up with bug spray which is recommended although the guide will then not let you pick up the frogs since the spray is harmful for them. Spotted a lot of wildlife -- many many types of frogs and toads, a scorpion, lizards, snakes (which we held), millipedes, glowing beetles, fireflies... Our 10 year old LOVED it. We made the mistake of not having dinner first so our 3 year old started to get a little hangry before the end of the tour. The guide was able to make the tour a little quicker when she started to get feisty, but we were still happy with the length of the tour and the amazing wealth of knowledge of the wildlife that our guide shared with us.

We did the night time frog tour. Saw frogs, snakes, bugs and had everything explained by a wonderful, enthusiastic intern. Makes you really appreciate nature even more.

Did the guided night hike with our wonderful guide, Brandon. Right as we arrived and got out of the car, a staff member was in the parking lot with binoculars to show us some toucans sitting in a nearby tree. We saw 12 species of frogs and Brandon took some amazing pictures which he sent to us afterwards. We also saw a nest of bullet ants, some cool lizards and finished the tour chasing a kinkajou as he moved through the treetops. A fantastic experience!

Estavan was our guide and he enthusiastically shared his extensive knowledge of the biology of the plants and animals and how they are connected. It was fascinating. We saw the red eyed tree frog and the poison arrow frog. They are truly beautiful. Our guide helped us to get photos just like you would see in National Geographic. Who knew that the cell phone could take such photos! The refuge is near town so it is quick to get to. An amazing experience that we can highly recommend.
