Everything was smooth - from check in to check out. We showed up early & the room wasn't supposed to be ready until 3 (we got there late morning). The desk clerk was great at explaining the amenities and was even willing to schedule a last-minute excursion. We left our bags in a room off the lobby area & walked the paths to see the crocs (large & lazy), the butterflies (tons of them - beautiful), the frogs (never saw any), and the ants (very cool display). By then the restaurant was open for lunch, so we had a tasty meal there. After that we went back to the lobby and they had our room ready for us early. The room was big and clean, as was the bathroom. When they said pull-out beds, I was expected a folding cot. The trundle mattresses were very comfy. We had 4 in our room and could've done more if people wanted to share beds. Nice balcony, wonderful view of the volcano (which was kind enough to be spewing steam). We did the zip line on the property and it was no joke - I was not expecting much, but this was impressive. The staff there was fantastic. Nice variety of pools at different temperatures, good service at the swim-up bar. The grounds were beautiful and the shuttle was very prompt.

5 people in one room, not a problem. Room 242 came equipped with two double beds and two single pull out beds. Our room was at the top of the complex but the free shuttle bus was convenient and efficient. The views of the volcano are amazing and the 2km walk to the viewing platform (uphill) is worth it. Arenal with its shops and restaurants is a short £5 taxi ride away if you want to venture out, the pools and hot springs might just keep you here however. Food and drink are reasonably priced and the buffet breakfast very good, we'd stay again.

Beautiful grounds, everywhere very clean, lovely quiet walk with beautiful flora plus turtles, butterflies, an ant farm and a few crocs. Great hotsprings and several water slides of different levels. Rooms ok. Trundle beds couldn't be accessed until we lifted up the queen beds (very heavy). Room cards need to be replaced because they often didn't work & you're stuck up in the hills with no means of communication. WiFi was dreadful except in the lobby. The restaurant staff were great, but oh for some different fruit -mango, papaya, soursop. A HUGE addition would be a shuttle into La Fortuna occasionally - cabs became expensive. (Teens liked the pools for only so long). the lobby staff were fantastically helpful as were the bus drivers.

After a good horse back riding tru the nearest outskirts of the Volcano Arenal, I experience the nicest yakuzzi and termal waters. Good food. Afortable prices. I had a great afternoon, meet new people. I will recommend this hotel for either family or couples that are looking a place for anniversaries or honey mooners. Pura Vida!!

We stayed 3 nights during Easter weekend. It was busy when we arrived on good Friday but otherwise was not overwhelming for a holiday weekend. This resort is simply beautiful and the grounds are gorgeous. Our room was but in the hills but had a beAutiful view of Arenal. We had a car, but used the provided transport around the resort. The transport provided by Los Lagos is very efficient. The drivers were friendly and often pointed out wildlife to us.

The kids loved all the pools and especially the water slides. We adults enjoyed the hot springs. Having the amenities with butterfly garden etc is also an awesome bonus.

The food in the breakfast buffet was wonderful with lots of options. Picky eater approved. However, we were disappointed with the dinner options. They had no kids menu. Luckily the pool bar had kid approved options. The Arenal volcano cocktail is yummy!

I have seen comments here about bugs... People really need to consider where they are going. Los Lagos and the majority of hotels and resorts in the area are in the rainforest and there are bugs. Lots of bugs. This is not a reflection on the resort but a fact of the area. We had a fun experience with a cicada coming in the door behind us one night and you certainly don't want to leave food out.
