During our traveling vacation in Costa Rica I wanted to make it a point to visit the mountainous location of Arenal. If you want to experience the diversity of Costa Rica getting out of the beach towns and the Central Valley and heading for the countries interior will fulfill your expectations. My decision to stay at Arenal Paraiso Resort was two fold. I’d stayed here before and knew how kid friendly the Resort is and I wanted to pick a Resort that has a good selection of Hot Springs pools. Arenal Paraiso fits the bill. The pools snake up the side of the hill and the farther up you go the more secluded and intimate they become. The rooms, depending on where you stay, can be average/rustic to above average/contemporary. I would recommend your selection be a little higher up the hill w better views of the volcano than the rooms down by the road. The breakfast (included) is adequate with a large selection of local fare as well as your standard waffles, eggs, bacon, toast and a great fruit selection.
All in all you can pick one of the more posh resort settings in the area and you will pay dearly. For the best bang for your buck you can’t do better than Arenal Paraiso Hotel & Resort.
