WOW.. What a place, absolutely beautiful grounds and location.. we had room 510, which had an uninterrupted view of the mountainside.. we got there onSaturday early afternoon, and had an enjoyable lunch overlooking the gardens and view, then a delightful afternoon relaxing in the pool... it was a great stay.. Our drawback is out last full day we chose to take the four in one tour which goes from about 7:30 in the AM to 9 PM.. reccommendation.. don't ( the tour was totally tedious, way too much bus , back and forth and waiting for other participants...).. do shorter tours and enjoy the hotel...only drawback, may be its a litte too far up the road to be centralized to everything, (and I;m sure thats a plus for many)... and although the staff were there for your attention consistently, they just didn't seem to have that eager friendliness that you experience in other locationsl...(then again it was Easter and they may have had other things they would have preferred doing..) in conclusion, We chad changed from another location in La Fortuna.....and glad we did..

Room Tip: some bungalows do not have the view, they are low on the hill, ask for the view!

Dear bobmga62.

Thank you very much for your review on Tripadvisor and for booking with us.
We deeply regret that some of the things were not good for you during your stay in Lomas like the service from our staff. We would like to know in detail about what you mentioned related to the service. It is very important to us. Please get in contact wit us at roberto@lomasdelvolcan.com
About the full day tour, it is full day! From 7:30am to 9:00pm and you go visiting all the atractions in the area. For you it was very tedious but for many ones it is a great option to explore the entire region in a short time, specially when having a limited stay in Arenal.
About the rest of your feedback we are really glad that your stay with us was very good and we hope that in the future you come and visit us again. Here we will be waiting for you.

Kind regards.

Your friends of Lomas del Volcan.

This resort-like hotel has everything from individual cabins to a delicious restaurant and a very comfortable pool. I stayed with my son and wife and we loved it.
PROS:
1 - Cabins/rooms are in great repair with no cracks or holes for creepy-crawlies to enter. My wife was happy. Also, very private.
2 - The property is huge with lots of space to stroll, bird-watch, enjoy the jungle and the night sky.
3 - Pool is a good size and the hot-tub is hot!
4 - The staff at the front desk are incredibly helpful and speak English fluently.
5 - Booking tours from the hotel was no issue at all.
6 - Open-air restaurant
7 - This hotel is within walking distance of a grocery store and a few gift shops, but no tourist sites.
8 - The tourist sites are short cab rides away.
9 - Great view of the volcano - unimpeded - when not covered in cloud.
10 - The day we arrive the hotel started offering a taxi-service so there is no need to have to arrange this independently.
CONS:
1 - The property is hilly, as is the landscape all around the volcano. Not very steep, but you should know it is not flat.
2 - The wifi in the room was not great. I could browse files, but not stream anything. In the lobby things were mush better.

Room Tip: All are equal. Private cabins - quiet, clean and well-built.

Dear Jeff G.

Firstly, we would like to thank you for booking with us and for sharing part of your vacations in Costa Rica with us. Secondly we would like to express our satisfaction due this comment placed here and reading that the pros are more than the cons you have mentioned here. About the wifi in the rooms, we want to tell you that we recently improved the conexion to all the rooms in the lodge and now the signal is much better. About the hilly grounds, you are right, please remember that our name is in behave of the topography of the surroundings, that is why we are "Lomas del Volcan" ( Hills of the Volcano).
We are glad that your stay with us was very satisfactory and we hope to have your visits in the future again.

Very nice hotel with private bungalow rooms including very big bathrooms. Wish the lighting was a bit brighter in order. Views of the flowering forests from the porches are wonderful. Nice swimming pool with all kinds of birds and wildlife nearby. The bar and restaurant (very good buffet) has a good view of Arenal Volcano although it has been inactive since 2011.

We are pleased knowing that we fulfilled all your expectations and that both service and facilities were good to your demands.
Related to the light in our resort, we will speak to our maintenance staff to find the way of improve it withour disturbing the fauna of the surroundings, please remember we are a mountain lodge and due that, we are at only few meters to the rain forest and the Arenal National Park, so we have to keep some parameters of building and lighting of our property.

Hi guys,
Beautiful garden. You are not allowed to walk on the lawn. But I did. I wanted to watch the birds.
The view of the volcano is spectacular. The pool is nice. Beds are good. The airco also. There is nothing wrong with the food. But it is nothing special. Standard dishes, standard taste. But overall: 5 stars. Friendly staff. I am an early riser. At 6, I was in the garden. Half an hour later, I got a cup of tea.
Regards
Schliek.
Do not forget to go to the hanging bridges. Drive yourself. Walk yourself. It is much cheaper. The entrance fee is 24 dollars.

Room Tip: some rooms are in the sun, some in the shade (under the trees)
