I went to this resort From 1/1-1/3. The resort is nice. It has like a bungalow room. It did offer free WiFi but not in the bungalow. Overall I didn’t need WiFi. The room looks nice. The housekeeper did a very nice job cleaning the room and making it presentable. It had a very nice warm springs pool. The restaurant was very nice. The server was friendly. I enjoyed eating their delicious food. The breakfast buffet didn’t offer a lot of variety but it’s fine. It offered free shuttle service into town. Me and my family enjoyed this resort.

The grounds are quite beautiful, with little cabanas scattered over acres of tropical landscaping. There are three warm-spring pools as well as a swimming pool, as well as a pretty good restaurant.
The inside of our junior suite, which looks terrific architecturally, had a ways to go to be truly comfortable. There's a decent wooden rocking chair, but only one---odd for a two-person room. Otherwise, there were three straight-back chairs ... why not two rockers and two straight chairs?
Also, the lighting was bizarre. All the bulbs are harsh, spiral CFLs, and one of our wall sconces didn't work at all, which made the room even dimmer. Meanwhile, the globes were missing on two other ceiling fixtures, so they shone glaring (yet dim) light in our eyes.
The restaurant had good food and a stunning view of the volcano just across the highway. We thought the prices were a little high: $15 for a burger for lunch, on up to a steak dinner that cost north of $50---high prices even in the States. And it was quite noisy with a stone floor, wooden chairs, and no pads on the chair legs to keep them from making a racket every time a diner stood up.
All in all, a good place that could be great with more attention to detail.

Friendly staff and nice facilities. Everyone was accommodating to make our trip excellent. Enjoyed the poolside bar and hot tubs. The staff always had the room nice and clean early each morning. The resort is right next to the Arenal Volcano which is great for hiking. The town of Fortuna is just a couple miles away. Easy to have a staff member call you a cab and go down there to check out all the bars, restaurants and shops. Highly recommended.

We booked our vacation months ago with Appel vacations (who work with Swiss Travel). Two weeks ago I inquired about where we were staying. That started a whole bunch of issues that ended up getting resolved by them placing us at Montana de Fuego for our Arenal Volcano Tour (3 nights). The tour was fantastic-the hotel was terrible. I tried to get Apple/Swiss to place us elsewhere before we even got to the hotel and they couldn’t because our whole travel group was staying at the same resort-which was a lie.

First issue at the resort was that our key card scanner on the door didn’t work. They gave us one key to unlock the door and that’s it. Our deadbolt didn’t work either. Then we pulled back the covers on the bed and there was a quarter size blood spot on the bed (not ours). My husband also seen cockroaches in our room. You could see daylight out the cracks in our door. Our A/C unit dripped water when you used it. The pools are nothing special, WiFi is only in certain areas, the dinner at the restaurant was not great.

They did have a little mini mart to get food/beer, a shuttle to la fortuna for $2 a person, and the breakfast buffet was decent.

We paid a lot of money to do this tour of the trip and this resort was not what we had been shown when we booked. Disappointing.

It's a lovely property, with lush landscaping, a nice pool, and good views of the volcano across the highway. We stayed in a junior suite, which looked nice---but didn't lend itself to hanging out. The biggest problem was the lighting: all spiral CFL bulbs, which were dim and harsh. One fixture didn't work at all, and two other ceiling fixtures had broken globes. The furniture was also wacky: three straight-back chairs and only one comfy rocker. So with dim but harsh lighting and with only one good chair, sitting in the room wasn't pleasurable after dark.
The pool looked nice, and there are three warm spring pools that are pretty. The restaurant is good, but limited for lunch and a bit pricey ($50 for a steak for dinner). Breakfast is quite nice. If you don't have a car, it's your only choice because nothing else is within walking distance.
