The hotel staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive. The room was clean, big and beautiful with incredible views of the volcano. We really enjoyed the food, the hot springs on premises and the pool hall open all hours. We had excellent 60 minute massages at the spa which we would recommend.

The rooms at Kioro feel dated. That being said, I really have nothing negative to say. With constantly changing weather, I’m sure the rooms are take a beating, so I have no issues with the feel. The bar staff is attentive...shout out to Gabriel by the pool. As I manage in a retail environment, he’s what I would look for as a team member. Passionate about what he does and the guests he is helping. Could there be improvements, sure. Would I stay at this location again, absolutely. The pros far exceed the cons. The food on the property is great and the team is willing to make suggestions based off of your preferences during your stay. My wife needs to eat gluten free which was no issue at all. The view is amazing, The staff is attentive, The food is good and the rooms are comfy. What more do you need.

This was one of the best places I have ever stayed. The property is so big, there is so much to see! Lots of beautiful landscaping showcasing local plants and trees. Large, quiet rooms. Views of the volcano. Fantastic food. You could almost just stay here the entire time, though you NEED to get out and see the area.

We were given tropical drinks upon arrival (late evening). The staff were so very nice and helpful! The room itself was so big. There is a hot tub in the room, although it only ever got warm, not hot. We still enjoyed it. Separate shower is useful. Toilet and sinks in room together. The tap water is clean and tastes good, we drank it all week. The view of the volcano from the room is just spectacular. We sat there and stared out the window, waiting for the clouds to move so we could see the peak and watching all the birds.

The grounds are large! There is a pool area with a bar, but keep walking past the pool and you find the hot springs. There are many levels - it is hottest at top and gets cooler towards the bottom. The last day we were there, they had a problem and the pools did not have hot spring water. But mostly they worked.

The restaurant had very good food, especially breakfast. The buffet style is nice - you serve yourself whatever you want. I liked the traditional Costa Rican breakfast food - marinated chicken in tomato sauce, and meats and cheeses. They have a large selection for everyone - eggs, cereals, pancakes, waffles, etc. They usually have the windows open and fresh air comes through.

You can book tours with the front desk. The resort has massages as well, and other options that we didn't look into.

I would love to visit again. This was our favorite place in Costa Rica!

We had two connected rooms for five adults. The rooms are so large that all of us could have fit in one. (The rooms each had two queen beds and a twin bed.) Views of Arenal Volcano through the large windows in our room were stupendous. The gardens on the property were also beautiful. The on-site hot springs were very relaxing, especially since it was somewhat cool outside. Even though we were there during the high season, the restaurants were not busy and we had the hot springs almost entirely to ourselves.

The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Room Tip: All rooms face the volcano.
