My family stopped here on a group tour we were on, and we thought it was wonderful! The grounds are filled with beautiful flowers! We first had a lunch, which was very good. Then we took a tour of how they make coffee(the old fashioned way), which was very informative and interesting. We also got to try free samples of the coffee, and it was amazing! Stop here if you have time, it is worth your while.

This was my first visit to a coffee estate and it was one of my favorite experiences in Costa Rica. The tour guide was very informative and interesting. The coffee was fantastic and there is a gift shop and restaurant on site. There is a small butterfly garden as well.

I like finding out facts and see the process how things are made. If you are the same way, you are gonna like this tour. It's short, but you'll have your breakfast on the porch overlooking the plantation - a gorgeous view. Then you'll get to the the factory and then whole process A to Z. And then you'll get to drink your coffee not just freshly ground or brewed, but freshly roasted.

We booked a tour including pickup from the Barcelo Hotel. The drive was about an hour but the driver was an encyclopedia and gave us an exhautive tour of the whole route to the plantation. we even stopped for pictures in the main square of Alajuela where there is a statue of Costa Rica's hero, Juan Santamaria. As for the plantation. it is very well maintained and in a beautiful setting on the mountain side. The tour of the plantation, roasting room and packaging area was informative. I learned so much about how coffee is grown, harvested and roasted. For example... the only difference between a french roast and espresso is how long it is roasted (17 vs 20 min). Bring your camera for pictures of the scenery and the beautiful butterfly garden where there are many different types of butterflies. The optional breakfast was tasty (lots of gallo pinto). The only complaint was how the coffee was presented. There were thermoses with coffee made from the different beans. I would have an espresso machine and fresh hot coffee ready for each tour. The gift shop was great and I came home with 6 kg of coffee!

Dear Mykola,
Thanks for your visit to Doka Estate Coffee Tour and for your positive comments about your coffee experience at our plantation.

Regarding to your complaint we would like to explain to you that our coffee tour includes the possibility of tasting all of our different types of coffee roasts and some of our other products such as chocolate covered coffee beans and coffee liquor.

For more elaborated hot or cold drinks like a Cold coffee, espresso or cappuccino we have our restaurant and coffee shop service available, since those are not included in our tour and they are optional just like our breakfast, buffet lunch or dinner services.

Thanks,
Mario Fernandez
