We really enjoyed our holiday. The breakfast was very good with a huge variety of items, including fresh eggs, omelettes, huge variety of fruits, cinnamon buns, fresh bread baked daily, many different fruit drinks and a variety of coffees. The grounds are well kept with many chairs to lounge on. The restaurant had a good variety, but the wine list was lacking in variety. But the ones they did have were good. Costa Rica has better beer than wine. While there, we ate at a different restaurant every evening, and did not have a bad meal, and most were quite good, all within walking distance, with many right on the beach. I would definitely go back.. A/C was very good. Room was quiet.. Beds were quite comfortable. The shower was huge.

This was a very nice hotel to stay at in the small town of Tamarindo. Yes, the hotel is split into two areas since the main street runs in the middle. If you want to be close to the beach, then stay in either a beach view room or the standard rooms. The other side of the hotel has the large pool with swim-up bar and also the adult only pool with swim-up bar. This hotel is very clean and very safe. Once you leave the property, you will notice a lot of locals trying to sell their product or services (which is how they make a living down there). The free breakfast is very good - similar choices everyday but the fresh fruit is amazing. Also, the omelet/fresh eggs station was very good along with the fresh waffles and pancakes area. The breakfast area is right off the beach so you get to enjoy watching the waves and surfers in the morning. The staff at this hotel were very kind and were always working. Our maid was the best and she did an awesome job of maintaining our room for the week. The cost of a drink at the swim-up bars or restaurant bars was around $5-$6 per drink (Pina Coladas and Rum Punches are very good) and a local beer is even less (Imperial). The beach is public so everything on the beach is for rent (surf boards, boogie boards, lounge chairs, etc.). If you go left or right down the beach, you will find many small restaurants that you can walk into for lunch or dinner at a good price. All have happy hours and reasonably priced menu items. This was a very good hotel.

Best Hotel, Nicest Hotel I’ve ever stayed at in Costa Rica. Best location, best espresso EVER. The breakfast is excellente; there’s 2 latte machines that everyone fights over for good reason: amazing coffees come out of that box. No joke. Better than Starbucks by a mile. If all I review is the coffee machines at the Diria, let this be it. Oh, and staff are awesome. Always cooking, cleaning serving. TIP YOUR HOUSEKEEPERS. Pura Vida!

This the last stop on our Globus tour. Wow! What a resort! The ocean view awesome, and the beach ver nice. We utilized the chairs on the property and walked to the ocean. We had a pool room across the main street. Great room, spacious. We ate in the main restaurant and the food excellent. We did have an issue with the ac and they responded immediately. The community is gated to allow only hotel people. The pools are great. A awesome place to stay.

This hotel is a proof that the service and policies can make or break a hotel! In this case worst hotel experience I have had all over the world. If you stay here expect to be treated like a prisoner! You get a bracelet when you check and everywhere you go there is security asking you to see the bracelet. We were followed into the gym, the toilets, the gates and asked to show our bracelets with suspicious looks!
The tip of the iceberg was when we came back to the room after a party with a friend who wanted to rest a little and were denied access to the room! They wouldn’t let us have a guest at our room to rest even when I offered to pay for any extra expenses! I was simply forced to get another room for a couple of hours and pay a ridiculous amount of money for a couple of hours. This has NEVER happened to me anywhere around the world from Europe to Africa. The reception (shown below) looks good but you can forget about everything else. The breakfast food was below average. Nothing worth waking up for. The rooms were old and not well taken care of. Not that it mattered that much to us as we were on a beach holiday but man oh man, get your staff trained on hospitality and how to treat paying customers!

554elik,

Safety is of the utmost importance to us at Tamarindo Diria. We would like to remind our readers and guests that safety is our #1 priority.

After you and your friends came back from your party, you tried to enter an unregistered person in your hotel room. It should be noted that this person was under the influence of drugs and acting suspicious.

We will not apologize for ensuring the welfare and safety of the rest of our guests and their families.

Kind regards.
