We have been to Amimodo many, many times, it is one of our favorite in Puerto Viejo. If you are lucky, you can sit on one of the beachside covered tables, and inside there is beautiful art on the walls. The fish is excellent, as is the pasta, all home made and served with wonderful side dishes. They have a shrimp appetizer which is out of this world with a mango salsa, even the fried plantains are great. They make great Pina coladas, and every dessert we have tried has been great. We have never tried the pizzas because the main courses are so good, but I bet the pizzas are the same quality as the entrees. The staff even let my husband go into the kitchen to see them prepare his favorite fish dish, now that is Pura Vida hospitality. A do not miss if staying in the area.

We booked Amimodo for our new years meal with other family members.

There was a special menu for new years which was pretty good. We ordered a mix of Caribbean style shrimp and pizzas. All were very good.

The place itself is quite pretty inside and has outside seating too. The food was served really quickly for new years eve and was well priced. We paid around $80 for two meals and drinks as a couple.

We would definitely visit again

A HUGE MESS... We went for an easy, Monday-night dinner and ordered TWO PIZZAS (simple enough) that were not even close to ready AN HOUR after ordering.

The menu is pricey for the type of food; think $20 - $40 per person (could be more in some cases). $10 for a soup (Minestrone), for example.

An hour after ordering our two pizzas (with the place relatively empty) someone came and said that the kitchen had skipped over our order... The other tables were getting one plate at a time, with long intervals in between. We could not believe it! After the whole fiasco, and just a "sorry, someone forgot you existed", we still paid $18 for 5 fruit juices.

This wonderful little restaurant was such a fun experience! Not only were our meals all really good but the owner is an artist who has created many things in the restaurant including some very interesting reverse painted glass pieces lit from behind. Now, as I am a glass artist by profession, I really appreciated his work. He came out to chat with us along with his beautiful and sweet granddaughter who was our waitress! As I was there with my daughter and grandson, it was a really nice connection! We learned he had been there for maybe 30 years or so. I would go back in a heartbeat! In fact can't wait! I live in Costa Rica part time so finding such a jewel is great and important to share so others can have this experience!
