We stayed 2 nights at the hotel . It is well situated a little bit outside town. The staff is very nice and the breakfast is very good. You get a nice platter with fresh fruit that is really delicious! The downside of the hotel is that it is not breathing the Costa Rica atmosphere that we experienced every where else. There is no bar during the day so no drinks..there is no music ( it shouldn't be all the time just to bring some 'ambiance'..). Everything looks a little bit dead and can be easily improved. For the rest everything is ok.

Very nice resort. Rooms are big and hidden in the forest.

Access to the beach is easy and the beach itself is one of the most beautiful ones of Puerto Viejo.

Breakfast is rich and well served (no buffet).

Hotel located outside of Puerto Vierjo in a jungle like garden.

The staff and the owner are very welcoming and will help you make the most of your stay.

The rooms are located in individual bungalow in a woody-balinese like style. The common area are very nice to enjoy breakfast or a drink.

In my opinion, this place - especially the room and bathroom - would benefit from some renovation works. The beds were worned out.

Large swimming pool and in house restaurant.

The artistic details and wooden finishes make Hotel Shawandha Lodge one of the coziest places I have ever been to.
The bungalows are charming, rustic and elegant at the same time, there you won’t find A/C or TV as this is an ecofriendly lodge and they use the natural ventilation through the open windows. Our cabaña had a terrace with a hammock, the shower is delicately decorated with colorful tiles resembling indigenous artwork.
I loved the hotel set up! it is located in a beautiful area surrounded of very tall trees where the monkeys hang out and occasionally throw seeds to you (watch out! Ha, ha) yet it is very accessible as there are very well-maintained paths to get everywhere while you feel like in the middle of the jungle.
It has a nice pool but for me the highlight is “Chiquita Beach” which is located just across the street and is one of the most beautiful and tranquil beaches.

They have a great atmosphere, nice service, and good food. Nice selection of sea food.

The grounds are well manicured and a nice settings.

You do not need to be a hotel guest to eat at the restaurant or bar.
