Spent a wonderful 3 nights at Esquinas Lodge in December 2019 & can thoroughly recommend it to birders in particular. It is everything a birding lodge should be, but rarely is! Delicious food, very comfortable accommodation (guests were spread out in rooms on the site when we stayed, to avoid neighbours which was amazing!), super tours, great staff & management even check with bird guides where they will be walking so as to avoid any noise if they have to grass cut. Nothing was too much trouble for reception & we wished we’d missed some of our other lodges & spent more time at Esquinas. We had a marvellous mangrove tour with Andrey, whose birding knowledge is wonderful. We met the owner, Michael twice & what an inspirational story behind the lodge~the only thing I would have changed is maybe the lodge could have some additional local crafts on sale? I’m sure this would be of benefit to the local community, though appreciate it means additional work in sourcing. Overall a magical stay & thank you to everyone for making our visit so very special!

Thanks for your friendly and positive comments. We always enjoy feedback from guests and we are happy you enjoyed your stay at Esquinas. The curassows live and nest on our property. Probably the easiest place in Costa Rica to see them close up.

Thank you for your kind and positive comments! I liked the word "uncrushed", because I felt you understood our vision of being a rustic, isolated jungle lodge off the beaten tourist track.

This is a great out of the way place to experience the true rain forest. no tv's, ac, etc, but good wholesome food. We enjoyed our brief stay and would definitely recommend a guided tour. We saw so much more that was always there with someone to show us where to look.

We spent a wonderful time at this lodge. The staff was very helpful and kind, the food was very good and the rainforest surrounding the lodge is so very beautiful. It was cool that we could borrow the rubberboots. Also the rooms and buildings in general were nicely decorated.
Thank you again!
