This gay hotel is paradise within the perfect natural paradise of Costa Rica and in particular the area of the National Park Manuel Antonio on the southern Pacific coast.

The staff is top notch being both friendly and professional. Their knowledge of the surrounding area is superb and they make all their guests feel welcome and comfortable. They helped us book excursions into the National Park and to a Zip Line Canopy Tour... all of which you must do if you come this far.

The main focus of the hotel is the spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean with jungle surrounding you all along a road with great restaurants and coffee shops..

The pool at the hotel is a beautiful infinity pool which is heaven to sit in and overlook the ocean.

Our room was comfortable yet modest. Very clean with a great balcony to watch the ocean.

The breakfast was abundant and quite tasty each morning with friendly service.

The hotel could do a bit more to make the rooms a bit more comfortable.. a desk and chair to sit at with your computer and a small coffee maker to make your own coffee early in the morning before the restaurant opens would be my only suggestions for improvement.

Also a word of warning to anyone with any problems walking.. there are many, many steps to this hotel being on a hillside... perhaps when booking ask for a room near the top/entrance to make your experience easier.

All and all a great place and please do not hesitate to stay at this hotel.. It will be a highlight of your Costa Rican vacation.

Room Tip: Room 6B has excellent view but be prepared to climb stairs

Clean, Beautiful View, Lovely Pool, Good Breakfasts. The best part of the stay was the sunset cocktail ritual. It is also conveniently located to some of the best restaurants in the area. There was some confusion regarding guests: Even though the breakfast menu lists a price for the breakfast for guests, served at the poolside, we were informed (Too late) that guests were not permitted by the pool. This should have been clarified.

Dear Stephen.
Thank you very much for your stay with us.
We are happy to know that you have enjoyed our clean resort, the beautiful view, the infinity edge pool, the cocktails and the good breakfast.
It is a pleasure to clarify here for you and the readers of TripAdvisor our policy for the using of the pool:
We understand that some hotel guests want to invite guests from outside to enjoy together our delicious breakfast or an excellent cocktail at the bar, but Villa Roca is a small resort and as you know our SPA area with pool, Jacuzzi and two sundecks has enough space for our hotel guests, but unfortunately it´s not enough for additional visitors. Therefore it´s important for us to guarantee for our hotel guests at any time space, tranquility and privacy. They pay for it. For the same reason, we don´t offer day passes for external visitors.
We inform about this our guests in our Website (/About), with a sign in our breakfast room and additionally in our yellow information folder in each hotel room.
Thank you very much for your understanding.
We hope to see you soon again in our resort.

We stayed 8 nights at Villa Roca. The place is clean and well kept. The rooms are very basic. We were in 5B which is pretty small with a queen bed and a somewhat obstructed view of the sea. It was fine other than the neighbor's dog barking at all hours of the day...luckily, we brought ear plugs. The hot water is sporadic...it fades in an out when in the shower. Also, there was a slight odor of sewage when sitting on the balcony. I think it was isolated to this room...so, be warned. Other than the room, the place is very nice and well maintained. Being on a hillside with great views means that there are lots of stairs, but this was expected. The pool is great...this is where we spent most of our time. Every morning, a made to order breakfast is included. And, it did not disappoint. I suggest starting with a fresh fruit plate. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We booked a few excursions through them. If you are looking for a gay specific excursion, be sure to let them know...we didn't, and we were booked on the regular excursions. Upon returning to Costa Rica, we would stay there again...just not room 5B. "Pura Vida"!

Room Tip: Avoid 5B...others seemed ok

Dear guests.

Thanking our guests for taking their personal time to share their experience with other readers here on TripAdvisor.

We are proud to read that you consider our place at clean, very nice and well maintained.

It´s very interesting to hear all the different opinions about our new room # 5b. This room exist since November 2017 and now in end of March 2018 we can say that we have had a very high occupation in this room with over 95% and some guests told us that they prefer for your next stay with us this room. I personally would say that this room is functional and decent decorated.
We know that this room has not a full panoramic ocean view. Therefor we inform our guests in our Website (/rooms-apartments) that this “small double room has one queen size bed… and a partial view to the sea through the tropical garden.”
What a pity that you did not share your observations with the slight odor during your 8 days of your stay so we could have the opportunity to give a solution right at that moment. Now we are searching every day about the slight odor on the terrace but we cannot find a problem.
With the shower we made several tests. We have found a constant water temerature but if there is in the throughout hotel a extremely high consume of water it could be that the water temperature is not constant in these shower because the lower water presserure. We will continue our searching to fix the problem in the shower ASAP to be sure that in the future everything works perfect. Thank you for your observation.

Upon your returning to Costa Rica we hope to see you again in our resort to enjoy every day our great pool and every morning the delicious made to order breakfast.
Our best regards and PURA VIDA from Manuel Antonio.
