We stayed in the plane and yes it was amazing! It was not cheap so my husband and I only did one night but it's worth knowing that there is one room with a king bed and another room with 2 king beds, so perfect for families or a couple of couples, and that would make it more affordable. Loved showering in the cockpit. The rest of the hotel was great (lovely pools, nice grounds, helpful staff, good location a short walk to the beach and Manuel Antonio park). Plus one afternoon we came back to find a troop of the tiny squirrel monkeys playing around the fuselage- magical!

Room Tip: Stay in the 727!

We had a suite with a king bed and double bed, perfect for three people.

Adequate space for us to move around and store luggage.

Floor to ceiling windows and a balcony with a great view of the rainforest and beach and Manuel Antonio Park.

The bathroom however was not ventilated at all and got very smelly and humid after a shower or anyone used the toilet. It was also very small with limited counter or storage space. This also stunk up our bedroom as the vent in the bathroom actually opens up into the bedroom!

The view from the adults only pool is a great place to watch the sunset and bird's eye view over MA park.

The service at all the hotel's restaurants was slow, indifferent and rude. Each night, they were always out of dessert at dinner. Breakfast service was disjointed - we didn't get meals at the same time, and they just forgot about all our smoothies.

To reach the beach, I recommend you take the local public bus across the street. It's a dangerous walk down a twisy mountain road, where cars cannot see you from around the corner. There's no sidewalk.

Overall, we loved waking up the view from our room every morning, but the terrible service and gross bathrooms need improvement.

My husband and I stayed here for a couple days after our wedding and for what we paid for the view was amazing! Just amazing. But when it was time for bed it was just a cheap mattress they found off the side of the road! For what im paying for I expect a good mattress to sleep on after an exhausting day. The last few days sleeping on that matrress was terrible. Our necks, and back hurt so bad and we didn't not sleep! Also there's no box spring! They need to upgrade their beds badly!!

If you want to experience wildlife at your doorstep, this is the place for you! We absolutely loved our week at the hotel (only left to go to Manuel Antonio park and did a day of fishing). We honestly saw monkeys every evening (they came to spend time around the pool with us) and were blessed to have a momma sloth and her baby spend three days in a tree only 15ft from the pool. Truly amazing (a day in the park couldn't even come close to this experience!) However, although we were blessed with an amazingly huge room with a large deck overlooking the jungle and ocean (both built entirely of Acacia wood I must add), some of the aspects of the accommodation in our room would be considered fairly outdated (bathroom in peticular). In addition, getting to the pools/restaurants/reception, etc. took some getting used to as there was a serious hillside to consider. Not for heart conditions unless stipulated (as it appears that there are rooms that seem to be less physically challenging?) On the other hand, having a full-sized fridge and cook stove was a real bonus as food costs in Costa Rica are fairly steep and we have teenage boys. Plus dual fans over each queen bed (as well as AC) made us all happy! A last note is that, although we were a bit worried about booking this hotel, as it was difficult to get a clear impression of what the hotel was like by the photos, we now understand why after having stayed here. This hotel is a complex of many smaller buildings built into the hillside overlooking the ocean to the west and, as well, snuggled amongst the jungle to the south and east. Definitely not a typical hotel but the location, delicious food and the cleanliness made it amazing . PS: although the pools are small, they are rarely occupied and very warm...plus a great way to meet other travelers

Room Tip: D4 (huge room with amazing ocean view)

Loved this hotel! Our family of four stayed at cv2 room 1 next to the adult pool. Large room with 2 queen beds, bathroom, sitting area, and kitchenette. Balcony outside with rocking chairs is perfect place to relax in shade and catch up on email via wifi. We saw more wildlife here than in the national park down the hill- 2 packs of monkeys, and a sloth!
The only thing that needs improvement is the beds. The slightest move makes the loudest squeak. They're not the most comfortable mattresses.
