We just returned from our stay in Costa Rica. Although I was hesitant to spend the extra money to stay at Arenas del Mar in the beginning, it turned out to be worth EVERY penny! We really wanted to spend less per night and stay somewhere where we could get a feel for the locals and learn about the country. We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff was superb! Juan Diego and Victor were excellent drivers. Dadiana and Sindy at the front desk were very helpful and professional. Andrea, Natalia, and Paloma were great at the spa. Kristen, Luis, Kener at the restaurant were so much fun to talk to and were great waiters. The grounds were kept very clean, yet it wasn't overdone and still had the feel of a perfect resort. They had recycling bins throughout the property which was a very important part of the Arenas community, as well as us.

The rooms were very clean, the restaurant was great, and I can't say enough good things about the staff. To getto the beach, you just had to make a quick phone call to the front desk and a driver would come pick you up and drive yuo in a golf cart down to the beach (same to go anywhere on the grounds if you didn't want to walk.) The road to the hotel was tough to get out if it was raining- going uphill was a little difficult, but that wouldn't make me change my mind on staying here. There are two pools on the property and two restaurants. We saw tons of monkeys on both beaches as well as sloths, caotis, and iguanas. The staff would point them out, but we saw at least 20 monkeys each day on the property. There are also two computers for customer use in the mail lobby area which was nice. I do not think there is a fitness center here.

The only two suggestions I have are to have better nametags for the staff (they were a little hard to read) and a better wine selection. Other than those two minor things, the stay was perfect! I would highly recommend Arenas del Mar to anyone visiting the Manuel Antonio area!

We spent one glorious night here and I can't wait to return for an extended stay! Like so many of the other reviews, I cannot say enough about the beautiful setting, attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant staff, great service, great food ... I could go on and on. This (along with 2 nights in Monteverde) was a last minute addition at the end of a business trip, and the perfect way to end the trip. The welcome drinks were a nice surprise, and our room was upgraded to one of the jacuzzi oceanfront suites - it was incredible. And, just to add to the local flavor, there was even a minor earthquake to rattle us a bit. Somehow, though, it seemed to fit right in. We had a problem with our shuttle service that was to return us to San Jose, and the staff at Arenas del Mar took it upon themselves to resolve the issue, and really helped us out. I cannot thank them enough.

If even half a chance arises, jump at the opportunity to stay here.

We had a great time in Costa Rica, and a big part of the reason was because of our stay at Arenas Del Mar. It is a beautiful place, surrounded by nature. Without exception, the staff was warm and welcoming. Victor, Juan Diego, Luis, and Rodvin, the porters who also drove us from place to place on the property in the golf carts, pointed out monkeys, sloths and iguanas as we went from the small beach to our hotel room, or to the main dining room.

There are two beaches, a small one with a pool and a restaurant called Playitas, and a larger one that you can walk on about a mile to the entrance of Manuel Antonio Park. The small beach is so restful. Monkeys appeared there almost daily, and the food at Playitas is excellent. The larger beach is busy and lively. Walking along it to the park, you can find places to go parasailing, or stop at a beachfront cafe for lunch and an Imperial.

We went into the nearby town of Quepos several times to walk around and eat, but otherwise, we stayed at the hotel during our trip. We enjoyed the food at the hotel tremendously, and we had almost all our meals there. Breakfast is great, and there is so much food. In addition, we loved lunch at Playitas, and dinner at El Mirador. Angelo is a wonderful chef, and the staff in the dining room, including Cristina, William, Minor, David, Jeanette, Jeffrey, Oleman, and Amparo (in the morning), is attentive and friendly. They were also more than happy to share stories about living in Costa Rica.

The menus for each meal feature a large variety of items, and there is everything from seafood, to meat, and even vegetarian offerings. Everything was so fresh. I wanted to stay an extra week just to try all the entrees on the dinner menu.

Elisabeth and her team cleaned our room twice daily, and did a very nice job. I loved the small chocolates they left on our pillows. I also loved the bath salts they left by the hot tub.

The spa provides many different services, and it's worth a trip just for the view. I enjoyed a massage with Paloma and recommend visiting her to soothe any lingering tension.

We loved our stay at Arenas Del Mar, and definitely plan to return. The whole staff, including Maria Elena, Dadiana, Marissa, Aeryn, Angelo, Davey, Pedro, Jorge, Julio, Henry, Brian, Marvin, Susan, Danny, Danny, Evelyn, and Eric, contributed toward making our trip a great one. Not only is the hotel beautiful, but so are all the people who help care for it.

Wow. My husband and I spent 5 nights here for our honeymoon and it was the highlight of our trip to CR. First and foremost - their service is unparalleled. I have never met kinder, funnier, more genuine people in my life. They went above and beyond at all times. Special thinks to the ENTIRE staff, but some special people are definitely Davy, Rodbin, Jeffrey, Louis, Victor, and the ladies at the spa. Also the front desk rep who was able to call around and find my husband the "true jungle night walk experience" he was looking for. Ok... the rooms are beautiful. Classic and clean and elegant. We had an ocean view suite so we had a bedroom, living room, massive porch with a private jacuzzi. I highly recommend splurging on the suites, its a huge difference. Beds were the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Location is fantastic. You're on the beach (not good for swimming), but you're also facing the rain forest. We often hiked their trails in the morning and then relaxed by the beach or the pool afterward. They have 2 pools, one by the lunch restaurant and one by the front desk. In the afternoon, go to the front desk - its empty, the lunch one gets crowded because people just stay there to sun. Both pools are beautiful and you'll occasionally find friends (lizards and frogs) joining you for a swim. Yes, the roads are hilly. They have golf cart service which they expect you to take advantage of. You call them up, or they see you around and you just hop in and they take you wherever you want to go. At no point was the terrain an issue for us. Spa was amazing. We had a bunch of massages, and they were honestly some of the best massages I've had. Do yourself a favor and at least book one. Food was very good. Breakfast was a highlight, lunch was just ok, and dinner was incredible. They have good portions and fresh ingredients and always have dinner specials as well. Their shrimp risotto is amazing. Happy hour is also a blast - half off drinks, meet other guests, relax and enjoy yourself. The staff know how to make a great cocktail and you must try a bunch off their drink menu. We met many other guests that were amazing, swapped emails, made dinner plans, etc. This resort is a perfect place to "getaway from it all" but have enough around that if you want to be social "have a drink, meet someone at the open air bar", you can absolutely do that! There are so many amazing things to say and not enough space, so please contact me with any other questions! Pura vida!

We recently went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon and it was fabulous. We stayed 3 nights in the Arenal area (Hotel Royal Corin) and 4 nights at Arenas del Mar in Manuel Antonio. We did all of the adventure stuff in Arenal so we were looking to just relax at Arenas del Mar and we did just that. The service was top notch. Everyone was so welcoming and very helpful. The breakfast is complimentary and it was very good. What drew us to Arenas del Mar was that it was one of the only hotels in the area located right on the beach. The beach was very different from any beach that I have ever been to. There are lots of trees on the beach and you are surrounded by the rainforest. It is very peaceful and relaxing. We went to dinner at Kapi Kapi in town and also Rafaels. Both were amazing. I was very surprised at how good the food was in Costa Rica. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
