this is a great place to lounge and play in the surf at Punta Islita. Staff is very friendly and you can even get in on a mixology class with full size tastings of local drinks. Food is delicious and drinks are nice and strong. Be sure to order the specialty in served in a coconut!!

Our family of three stayed in an oceanfront room. Just steps away was a huge and mostly empty sandy beach. In the mornings, a dozen or more scarlet macaws would have breakfast in the almond tree just outside. The room was large (actually a suite) and clean. It is very quiet, and in exchange for the quiet you get isolation. The restaurant is fine, and has great pastas and fruit juices, but if you want some variety, it will be a long walk or a drive.

We stayed at the resort for a week and there were a few nights where we were the only guests at the resort. The resort is in the middle of nowhere on a very beautiful and desolate beach. I recommend renting a car since puerto jimenez is an hour and a half walk away.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The receptionist made sure that there was always staff at the restaurant despite us being the only guests at the resort for a few nights. Breakfast was included. I am surprised by the other reviews because we enjoyed the a la carte breakfast. The breakfast started off with fruit and then you got to order either pancakes, French toast, costa rican breakfast (eggs with beans and rice) or American breakfast. Lunch and dinner was also delicious at the Italian restaurant. We loved the freshly baked pizza.

The room also had Wi-Fi, a.c. And was very clean. We had a double bed room in front of the pool. The room was very basic and not that spacious, but we did not mind. We had just finished camping for a week in the rainforest so we were not concerned about the old fashioned furniture. We were just happy to have a.c..

The only negative aspect would be that it was difficult to swim at the beach and that there were only a few chairs at the beach. Bring water shoes and insect repellant. The sand gets extremely hot during the day and at dusk and dawn there are some sand flies at the beach. We visited the beach during midday in order to avoid the sand flies.

Stayed 4 nights. Originally booked a standard double room and was really disappointed when we arrived, room was tiny with just two beds and small bathroom, although a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. Luckily managed to uograde to a beachfront suite and it was fabulous with jacuzzi bedroom and living area (which importsntly had a fridge and coffee maker) amazing views of the sea and beach, great bird watching, lots of macaws and other tropical birds. Hotel js a little of the beaten track with not much in walking distance so best with a car. We had a 4x4 so were able to do some amazing drives as far as you can go down to Matapalo and found some gorgeous deserted beaches. Staff were amazing the only downside was the standard room so be warned about that!

Only stayed one night and one night was enough! Room looked like a cement prison cell with two beds. The shower's metal grate covering the drain was lifted so I nearly sliced the bottom of my foot. The breakfast included with our night's stay was best avoided. We were seated by a grumpy hostess/server at a table with dirty linens. Food was even stuck to the candle in the middle of the table. The fruit platter was laid out without any covering so it was a party for the flies. The staff around the property was not friendly except for the woman who checked us in. She was very pleasant. The only good thing I can write is that our room had A/C.
