I am writing this review because this is one of my favorite places to stay in the Puerto Jimenez area and I want people to know why. First the beach! Yes, lots of hotels are on the beach right? Surprisingly in the Puerto Jimenez area most of the hotels are nestled up in the hils or mountains overlooking the beach/ocean with no or very difficult beach access. At Agua Dulce Beach Resort you literally walk out of your room, pass the beautiful pool and restaurant area and you are on a nearly secluded, wide sandy beach! The second story restaurant by the pool also overlooks the gulf and beach. You can literally sit in that bar and restaurant for hours enjoying the sounds of howler monkeys, wild scarlet macaws and other cool birds in the nearby jungle while watching and listing to the waves. The resort is very small...only about 30 rooms - which to me is ideal -better service, less traffic! There were enough people there to make it interesting but not so many I couldn't relax. The main draw of course is the surrounding areas. With breathtaking nature tours on land (you can arrange at reception) and stunning biodiversity in the Sweet Gulf - Whales, dolphins, amazing fishing etc...you really only use your room at night to dream about the days adventures since one could spend a lifetime exploring all the possible activities and sights in Costa Rica's...I am writing this review because this is one of my favorite places to stay in the Puerto Jimenez area and I want people to know why. If you enjoy rainforest hiking, wildlife photo opportunities, and the beach you will love Agua Dulce beach resort. There were several biologists staying there during my trip and the photos they wee getting were unreal - welcome to a live version of the Discovery Channel with you as the star. This is not a mega resort but an amazing value for the $$$. Safe, seucre and friendly. I will be backMore
