Cabinas Jimenez the Place To Be and Stay

Review of Cabinas Jimenez
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Feb 2024
The staff at Cabinas Jimenez were so very helpful for me to set up two tours of the surrounding forest and also Corcavado National Park. They set me up with Ficus Tours, helped me negotiate my travel to Puerto Jimenez and also provided free kayaks and bicycles. I kayaked to a mangrove wetland and biked to a beach on the other side of the airport.

My room was very clean and comfortable. The staff so pleasant and helpful. I would stay here every time I go down.

Thank you so much for making my trip so much fun and memorable.

The property is clean but offers basic facilities. Luckily, we booked an upgraded room with sea view, much better than other rooms. What was really great was customer service provided by Gabby. Even before getting our key, she told us everything we needed to know. The next day, she helped us in a personal emergency magically, finding solutions to our problems in record time.
If you are looking for basic accommodation, I recommend this property with great customer service. Is worthed to pay a little extra for the sea view room.

Cabinas Jimenez should have 'soul food' in its name, because all the staff are like a family welcoming everyone with pure open smiles, on top of providing excellent thorough daily room cleaning, tour advice and booking. Basically nothing is too much trouble, laughter between guests and staff adds to the sounds of the daily visits of Macaws in the trees around. Balconies are private with amazing views of a multitude of birdlife over the bay, which you can access via steps for swimming or use of the free kayaks. On top of the wonderful atmosphere each room has a unique decoration and the quirky artistic features such as doors with amazing carvings and beautiful sculptures can be found in every corner around the grounds.
Puerto Jimenez is a few minutes walk, but we used the free bicycles on offer to ride to town and around to local beaches. We had a wonderful dolphin boat tour, my husband went on 4 amazing fishing trips, chocolate farm. We were due to stay here for 6 nights, but we fell in love with Cabinas Jimenez and stayed for 20 days instead of moving on to a 5 star hotel as planned!!

We stayed for 3 nights in cabina 21. It was a very spacious 2 bedroom suite. Each room with a king size bed. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The cabina also had an outdoor kitchen and sitting area. We didn’t use the kitchen, outside of the refrigerator. But the view from the outdoor area was beautiful. The ladies at the reception desk were very friendly, very welcoming and helpful.
This place also has bikes to use (although we did not use them) and kayaks, which we did use. There is a very small pool but we did not use as we instead spent time at the beach.
The only con I can say is that they do not provide shampoo and soap for the shower. There was liquid soap at the sink but nothing for the shower. Not a big deal but I thought I’d mention so future people can plan accordingly.
We loved the Puerto Jimenez area. It is quite small, not super touristy (which is the appeal for us) and it has some incredibly beautiful beaches. We have visited many places in Costa Rica and Puerto Jimenez is definitely one of our top favorites and we will definitely come back!

Room tip: There is a great coffee shop on the main street called Monka and a delicious bakery right across the street from the coffee shop.

This is a great place with John, Esteban and the rest of the lovely staff always there to help. Bikes and kayaks are free to use - and the tours you can make are beautiful. The views from the cabinas on the Golfo Dulce are breathtaking and it is great that they clean the cabinas everyday and give you fresh towels. The pool is a nice place to chill out. And the terrace is a nice place for birding. They have enough fans and AC to keep fresh at night and the bed is nicely king sized and the mattress is good!! We recommend everyone to come down here and discover the untouched Costa Rica. Pura Vida!
