Thank you so much for writing and most of all, thank you for making us your home in San José!!! How exciting to know we have a new member in our family!! There is no better compliment than to know you have chosen to come back time and time again. It is true, that our hotel has a certain peaceful quality... I like to think of it as a combination of good vibes from all the staff, our lovely guests and the cute hummingbirds that visit our gardens :). Hope to share more great energy with you very soon. Best regards!

When we travel, we look at reviews so I felt the need to leave a review for this place. If you or your family are picky and traveling to San Jose from the US, read this. After staying at this hotel for one night the reviews on this place make no sense to me. It’s not that nice.
Just to level set my expectations - I wince at staying at a Best Western, old Holiday Inn Express or an older hotel in general. I will be comfy at a Marriott, a nice Hilton Garden Inn, etc. An Omni is very nice and then I start getting priced out at a W Hotel or a Four Seasons.
Now that you know that -
I do want to say that the staff was very friendly and breakfast is good. The room was fairly clean. This place was just not my speed. I don’t quite understand all these great reviews. We checked in and showed to the room. I was just so extremely disappointed.
The hotel is near a large park in San Jose, but that’s pretty much it. If you want to walk to get dinner, coffee, etc, it will be at least a half a mile walk. At least. We had to pass a bus stop on our way home from dinner and ended up with a questionable man following us for a little bit. We are in a big city, I get it. But a little creepy.
The rooms are old and small. The furniture was old and worn. The fabric on the furniture looked warn and dirty, though I’m not sure it was.
The bed was flat, springy (not in a good way) and hard. The sheets, while maybe cotton, are not super nice. We had 3 pancake pillows and one hard-as-a-rock pillow. The sheet used on the mattress on our bed was too small to fully tuck into the mattress so every time I rolled over the sheet came with me. And that’s gross because then I’m on the bare mattress. And they give you one flat sheet and an awful blanket to sleep under. That’s it.
The bathroom was clean but really small. No counter space at all. It smelled like sewer gas in the bathroom.
Each room has a window unit and fans. I’m learning that central A/C in Costa Rica isn’t too common, but these wall units were LOUD. It did cool down but everything had to be blasting - the wall a/c unit and the fan. So I was cold while it was all running, then I got hot when the unit turned off.
We didn’t use the kitchenette.
We didn’t swim but it looked nice, I guess. It’s just the courtyard of the hotel with the pool in it.
We booked 4 nights at this hotel. After the first night, I made my husband move to another hotel. I wasn’t comfortable at all. I barely slept from the awful bed and never could get the right temperature in the room. If I had called down to the office we might have been able to “fix” the pillow and sheets situation. I didn’t give them a chance.
My husband tells me that I’m super picky. I don’t know that I’m super picky. I just like nice. This was not nice.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. So sorry to hear that you did not fully enjoy your stay with us. I can understand your predicament, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience experienced. I feel that the experience of a large hotel chain is very different of that from a small boutique hotel. Neither one is better than the other, but the expectations and the fit between hotel and guest are totally different. We aim to offer a unique and personalized experience, with emphasis in service, both intangible and tangible. We put much care into the way we serve and also the infrastructure we use to provide this service. We thank you for your feedback and again, offer our sincere apology. Hope you have a wonderful day, best regards!

I really love this little hotel. GREAT location if you want to be downtown without being too much in the thick of things. If you are staying here before catching a flight, please give yourself enough time to get to the airport, because the traffic on the highway between this hotel and the airport is terrible.

The staff is wonderful, so accommodating and friendly. The grounds and the rooms and very clean and well-maintained, although the a/c in my room was LOUD (thankfully we didn’t need it much). The swimming pool is pretty and sparkling clean. There are usually other guests sitting there to enjoy the sun. Quite a few children about too.

The daily breakfast is excellent, and the hotel is well-served by Uber Eats, so there are plenty of dining options available. There is also a Rostipollos restaurant just a 1-minute walk up the street if you want a nice, hot chicken sit-down dinner and drinks. The main downtown area is about a 10-minute taxi ride through traffic.

We would definitely stay here again!

We like to think of ourselves as a safe haven for body, soul and mind!! Sorry about the traffic you encountered going to the airport, the Pan-American high way is under expansion, but work is scheduled to finish very soon and we will have a beautiful and smooth highway!! Hope you have a wonderful day and that we have the privilege of serving you again very soon. Best regards!

We needed to come to the city for a few days & normally we stay in main stream hotels in Escazu but since we visited during the Covid pandemic I wanted to stay in a smaller hotel that had a kitchenette in our room. The staff & hotel exceeded our expectations. Check in was a breeze & everything is very clean. I loved that the Park is only a few blocks away so we can go running every morning. Our room had a/c but we preferred to open the windows for fresh air & it’s a perfect temperature to sleep at night. Beds are very comfy & you have multiple sleeping pillows. WiFi & hot water worked great. I also liked the water cooler in the main area to fill our bottles, secure parking & the pool area is prettier than you see in photos. We will gladly return!
