We went here for lunch after exploring the San José Center and food was absolutely amazing. I think it was best steak in Costa Rica

A very nice atmosphere in this restaurant where waiters and waitresses will be looking after you attentively. During the meal, I happened to drop my fork. I did not have the time to reach down and pick it up before the staff handed me a new one and swiftly picked up the one on the floor. It is very advisable to place a reservation, there were no empty tables while we had lunch there. Of course the beef is flawless but there are dishes for every taste . The wine list is very comprehensive and reasonnable.

A perfect stop when visiting the National or Jade Museums. The restaurant has great decor and atmosphere. Food is exquisite and unique. Black fettuccine and shrimp was excellent. A great variety of meat dishes as well.
Despite being upscale the restaurant is reasonably priced. Very uncommon for San Jose.

Absolutely fantastic. Great steak - tasty and melt in the mouth with a lovely sauce. Flambé Apple crepe - out of this world. Good wine and friendly staff.

This place near as I can tell caters to mostly locals. Its a tiny bit off the main tourist area, and is very modest on the outside. Hard to imagine too many tourists stumbling on it back before smartphones and the internet.

But holy mackerel, what a find! Very highly rated by Trip Advisor and deservedly so. The restaurant is really ‘neat’,
lots of paraphernalia that has been collected over years and years so it isn’t tacky, it all fits nicely in the decorum.

And the food... The worst part was agonizing over what to order, because it all appeared delicious! Seafood rice, lamb stew and a side of chorizo sausage were ordered by us and couldn’t imagine them better. Seafood rice was packed with seafood, all perfectly cooked (ie, not over cooked!).

This is exactly the reason I love TripAdvisor. We would have never found this place given where we were staying and what we were doing, and I cannot imagine our memory of San Jose being as good as it is without going to La Esquina de Buenos Aires.
