Not only this precious little lodge has the feeling and the ambiance of visiting your family. They treat you like that as well. The grounds are beautiful and colorful, a peaceful retreat for afternoon walks, meditation, or simply to admire the exuberant flora of the tropics.
The rooms are small but beautifully appointed, just like in your Auntie's home. We had a very comfortable bed and enjoyed the art and the care in decorating.
The food was excellent and home-made, yet another chance for the owners to show their hospitality and care for their guests.
In all, my wife and I loved it, met nice people over breakfast, and can't wait to go back soon.

Room Tip: Only visited one room, but ask about views.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa de las Tias. The location is quiet and private, surrounded by beautiful gardens. We enjoyed the artwork throughout the interior, and especially spent time outside on the covered porch. Our room was charming and very comfortable with all the expected amenities, including access to a refrigerator on the second floor, stocked with drinks..The breakfasts were delicious and filling with lots of fresh fruit, breads, egg dishes, and more. Most of all, the host and hostess were welcoming and delightful company, making this the perfect 'home away from home'. Pilar also helped 'orient' us to the area, making many excellent suggestions for places to visit.

Casa de las Tias is within a short walk of restaurants, stores, and quick access (10 minute walk) to the heart of Escazu. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again in the future.

I stayed here two nights in June. Very quiet and secluded, even though it is only a short walk to a busy street. Nice balcony, with relaxing view. Very comfortable. But it might be difficult to find as it is tucked away, just off a major street.

My husband and I just spent three adventurous weeks in Costa Rica, starting at and returning back to, Casa de las Tias three times! Our hosts could not have been more gracious and helpful. It was our first trip to Central America and we had worried about our lack of Spanish and traveling to three or four remote jungle retreats/Eco lodges outside of San Jose. Our hosts Xavier and Pilar helped us contact a lovely local guide/driver who was available whenever needed, they even placed and took calls for us when connecting with our next stays. We took too many clothes for the wonderful weather so we were able to leave a bag behind between trips! Accommodations in this beautiful 'quiet' character home were excellent! Our bedroom suite with en suite bathroom was spacious, well ventilated with a comfortable large bed and included free snacks and coffee/ tea in room. Breakfast outside on the garden patio was scrumptious and filling with local specialties and delicious fresh fruit, some fruit even picked from the B &B's own fruit trees. On our first morning we saw parakeets! and during our stays saw (and heard) many other birds and butterflies in the expansive gardens. It was such a restful place to stay after a long overnight flight fr Canada and make it our home - base between excursions! Our trip turned out to be one of our best ever due in great part to our hosts Xavier and Pilar and their attention to detail and their sincere interest in their guests. We look forward to a return trip to Costa Rica and would most definitely stay at Casa de las Tias and would highly recommend it to family and friends! iPura vida!

Room Tip: All rooms excellent... All different and with character!

We stayed here for 2 nights while I was on business and my partner had dental work done. For those having dental work this is in a perfect location as it is walking distance to a great dental clinic. Xavier and Pilar are great B&B hosts and did everything they could to make my partner comfortable during our stay including a special meal. They have a wealth of information about the area and can arrange most anything to accommodate one's needs: tours, transportation, restaurants. The only downside - our room was not the most comfortable as it was quite small and the bed was very hard. I understand from the descriptions of previous guests on TripAdvisor that some of the rooms are very spacious. Breakfasts are quite good. The property is very spacious and quiet despite the bustle right down the alley which never seems to intrude.
