We had a great time in the lodge. Eric and Heather were fantastic folks. Eric started our stay with a personal tour of the lodge, Bettles and the nearby community of Evansville. Very informative and interesting. We stayed at the Aurora section of the lodge. Room was quiet and comfortable. The staff to a person was always attentive, friendly and helpful. We can't say enough positives about the resident bush pilot Kevin. Safety first, he was personable and approachable. Great flight into Gates of the Arctic National Park. A must see. Take the raft trip down to old Bettles if you can. The ghost town is super interesting and the float down is wonderful.

Being canoeists and living up to the reputation of being cheap we elected to sleep elsewhere but partake of the Lodge's hospitality.

We found the food good and filling. I particularly liked the portion sizes and side choices. Being diabetic and counting carbs I did not feel like I had to cheat myself out of desert. There are no menu choices. What is served is what the chef decides is the meal.

Our grilled barbecue chicken was moist and tangy. The home made mashed potatoes were fantastic. The broccoli was frozen, expected, and ok. The glazed carrot cake was good and not overly sweet.

Breakfast was your choice of eggs with hash browns, bacon or rain deer sausage with toast or blueberry French toast. The bacon is coated and baked. It is good and has a different kind of texture. The blueberry French toast was good but I wished it was chocked full of berries.

Prices were in the $20-$30 range which seemed appropriate based upon my travels in the far North.

Customers service was laid back and easy. We particularly enjoyed the conversation and learned more about Bettles, the people and surrounding area. It was obvious the Lodge is the place to chill and have a beer and enjoy the company.

Hi "Worth-voyageur",

Thank you for the review of our restaurant and am glad to hear that you were pleased with the meals you ate at our Lodge. We are a year round operation, based completely out of Bettles and live here all year. We are the only independent business, operating year round, for fuel, food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and lodging. We hope to see you again soon!

Visited Bettles Lodge in December of 2016 to see the Aurora Boreaiis. Not only were the lights incredible, but Eric and Heather made the experience so personal. They and their staff make it their mission to serve their guests in any and every way possible. This was a trip I will never forget, and I hope to return again for another exciting time. Thank you for making my special birthday EXTRA special!

We just wrapped up our visit to Bettles Lodge. I can't say enough good things about Eric & Heather and their small staff. They made our visit to arctic Alaska outstanding. We did the all inclusive package plus the National Parks Collector trip. The accomodations are nothing fancy, but they are cozy and comfortable. All the food was delicious. Everyone at the lodge made us feel like we were at home. We enjoyed our tour around Bettles with Eric, learning about life and logistics in the Alaskan arctic. We did the float trip down to old Bettles which was very interesting.
Our National Park Collector tour to Kobuk Valley and Gates of the Arctic national park was amazing. Our pilot and guide, Kevin, did a great job. He set up a picnic lunch for us on the Kobuk Valley sand dunes.
A visit to Bettles Lodge is not cheap, but when you understand what it takes to operate in this location, you will understand that is the cost of getting to have this experience. I feel confident in saying that everyone at Bettles Lodge will do their best to make your experience an unforgettable one.

If your Bucket List includes these two National Parks and you want the absolute best experience you can have then contact Eric or Heather Fox the owners of Bettles Lodge in Bettles Alaska. Eric will take care of your flight from Fairbanks, Alaska to Bettles, a stay at the lodge plus flights to both parks from the lodge. The lodge is located adjacent to the Bettles Air Port where after hearty meal at the lodge you walk 100 plus feet to board the sightseeing plane operated by Birchwood Aircraft Services and Kevin Kellogg Pilot and Guide. You can option to visit both parks in one day or one park per day Kevin lands in the parks on sand dunes or beaches. As you fly you must keep an eye out for wildlife and the absolute beautiful landscape of these VAST parks. Since there is no Park Office actually located in these two parks you can get your Park Stamp at the local Ranger office across the road from the Lodge, be sure to ask the Ranger Office to borrow a sign with the name of the Park your visiting so you have it to take photos with. The one area of concern is the weather if it happens to be bad weather the planes do not leave the ground so you sit and wait I strongly suggest booking multiple days to compensate for possible bad weather. We actually were able to fly to both parks the first two days of our visit, we then got to raft down the river to visit old Bettles, hike the local area and just hang out. The Lodge is operated by Eric and Heather and a GREAT staff looking out for your every need, good accommodation, good food really loved the total adventure. We also had the pleasure of meeting and flying with a second pilot Kevin Asher who was brought in by Kevin Kelllogg to help out and assist him with fulfilling their busy schedule making sure everyone was able to visit the parks. Highly Recommend Bettles Lodge for anyone wanting to have a GREAT experience and meet a group of Fantastic people
